We’ve worked with Reprezent London on and off over recent years, so we were ecstatic when they brought us in to help deliver Reprezent Essex - a sister station to the capital's leading youth-led radio station - in collaboration with the NHS. The aim? To broaden awareness of mental health in young people, most of which were unsure of how to get support and learn more about the topic.
Working with Reprezent’s head of partnerships and content Kate Jaggers, project manager Alex Mashti, and some of the London-based presenters, we immersed ourselves within the county’s youth ecosystem, using relevant culture, language and insight, we engaged influencers to help us launch the station, recruited young people for 3 radio production training courses across the county, and delivered a series of events. Reprezent Essex was launched as a space where the county’s young people could campaign on important social matters in their own way, often leading the conversation by themselves setting the agenda and broadcasting packages exploring mental health and its facets on air.
Our Mission is to utilize the power of music to create connection and inspire giving. We hope to raise awareness, sensitivity, and funds to support charitable organizations in our community through planned concerts and events.

CREATIVE CITIZENSHIP: BUILDING CONNECTION, KNOWLEDGE,
BELONGING AND LEADERSHIP IN YOUNG PEOPLE
Lisa Burnett Regional Manager Transit Lounge Caboolture Qld and Anne Spelman Client Services
Coordinator Moreton Bay Region Libraries Qld
For the last three years Moreton Bay Region Libraries has hosted Transit Lounge Caboolture (TLC), a developmental
program for creative young people. Although not an obvious pairing, it has been successful, with the hosting arrangement on
the verge of transforming into a true partnership. Between them, they offer a suite of services and programs that support the
developmental needs of creative young people from pathfinders through to aspiring artists, emerging artists and professional
artists. Programs such as Mash It Up short film festival and Band Camp, services like the enewsletter and project mentoring
provide opportunities for skills development, networking, showcasing and resourcing that would not otherwise exist. Through
this unique partnership, a continuum of support has been offered that connects young people to each other, to community
resources and to professional artists and artsworkers – connection, knowledge, belonging – developing a generation of
young citizens who have a stake in their community and the skills and networks to create and lead arts and cultural activity.
Edited version of a paper presented at ‘12 to 24s @ your public library in Australia and New Zealand conference’ Qld 11-
12 June 2010.
hen we sat down to develop this paper
there was one word that dominated our
conversation – why?
• why does Transit Lounge Caboolture exist?
• why is Moreton Bay Region Libraries doing
community development work?
• why are we partnering?
• why are we interested in working with young
people?
• why arts and culture?
• why do we think other people should be doing
this?
We articulated our personal motivations, which
ultimately lead back to some clear and compelling
reasons.
Declining optimism
In the 10 years between 1995 and 2005 there was a
significant decline in young people’s optimism
regarding their preferred futures
• 49% of young people think the future quality
of life in Australia will be worse (up 25%)
• 65% think the world is headed for a bad time
of crisis and trouble (up 49%)
• although 89% would prefer a ‘green’ future
only 23% expect that is what they will see
• although only 11% prefer a ‘growth’ focused
future, 77% expect that is what will prevail.1
If you are faced with a widening gulf between your
expected and preferred futures, what does that do
to your sense of hope – especially if you do not
feel that you have any control over that situation?
Reduced feelings of wellbeing
A survey2 of more than 10,000 Australian students
from prep school to year 12 found that
• 40% of students could be described as
displaying lower levels of social and emotional
wellbeing
• there was, at most, only a weak positive
relationship.
A funding proposal written for The Young Americans, a 501(c)3 based in California. The funding proposal asks for support for a music outreach program. This document was written by me and three other students for an assignment.
Music Basti' was started in 2008 to work with and empower street children through music. The project is currently working to develop a music program that teaches the children about music as well integrates messages about human rights education and life skills. It focuses on helping the children to develop self- identity, value orientation and attitudes. Alongside this, it endeavors to join together community needs of children at risk, particularly street children and urban slum children, with the efforts of the music community.
Music Basti is run by IDEA (Integrated Development Education Association), and supported by The YP Foundation. It works with Aman Biradari, and Bridge Music Academy. Music Basti was selected for the Change Looms development and assessment program in July 2009, the program supports the work of young people working for social change (Pravah and Ashoka).
The project has worked with various musicians and volunteers in Delhi, combining professionals with student volunteers and musicians. It aims to develop a collaborative and positive relationship between the music community, individuals and institutions, and through them raise awareness about the issue of child rights, and the use of the arts, particularly music to create this awareness.

Digital Commerce Lecture for Advanced Digital & Social Media Strategy at UCLA...Valters Lauzums
E-commerce in 2024 is characterized by a dynamic blend of opportunities and significant challenges. Supply chain disruptions and inventory shortages are critical issues, leading to increased shipping delays and rising costs, which impact timely delivery and squeeze profit margins. Efficient logistics management is essential, yet it is often hampered by these external factors. Payment processing, while needing to ensure security and user convenience, grapples with preventing fraud and integrating diverse payment methods, adding another layer of complexity. Furthermore, fulfillment operations require a streamlined approach to handle volume spikes and maintain accuracy in order picking, packing, and shipping, all while meeting customers' heightened expectations for faster delivery times.
Amid these operational challenges, customer data has emerged as an important strategy. By focusing on personalization and enhancing customer experience from historical behavior, businesses can deliver improved website and brand experienced, better product recommendations, optimal promotions, and content to meet individual preferences. Better data analytics can also help in effectively creating marketing campaigns, improving customer retention, and driving product development and inventory management.
Innovative formats such as social commerce and live shopping are beginning to impact the digital commerce landscape, offering new ways to engage with customers and drive sales, and may provide opportunity for brands that have been priced out or seen a downturn with post-pandemic shopping behavior. Social commerce integrates shopping experiences directly into social media platforms, tapping into the massive user bases of these networks to increase reach and engagement. Live shopping, on the other hand, combines entertainment and real-time interaction, providing a dynamic platform for showcasing products and encouraging immediate purchases. These innovations not only enhance customer engagement but also provide valuable data for businesses to refine their strategies and deliver superior shopping experiences.
The e-commerce sector is evolving rapidly, and businesses that effectively manage operational challenges and implement innovative strategies are best positioned for long-term success.
When most people in the industry talk about online or digital reputation management, what they're really saying is Google search and PPC. And it's usually reactive, left dealing with the aftermath of negative information published somewhere online. That's outdated. It leaves executives, organizations and other high-profile individuals at a high risk of a digital reputation attack that spans channels and tactics. But the tools needed to safeguard against an attack are more cybersecurity-oriented than most marketing and communications professionals can manage. Business leaders Leaders grasp the importance; 83% of executives place reputation in their top five areas of risk, yet only 23% are confident in their ability to address it. To succeed in 2024 and beyond, you need to turn online reputation on its axis and think like an attacker.\
Key Takeaways:
- New framework for examining and safeguarding an online reputation
- Tools and techniques to keep you a step ahead
- Practical examples that demonstrate when to act, how to act and how to recover

2. REPREZENT ESSEX WAS LAUNCHED IN COLLABORATION WITH
THE NHS AS PART OF THEIR TRANSFORMATIONAL ‘EMOTIONAL
WELLBEING & MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE’ PROGRAMME.
WE LAID THE FOUNDATIONS OF A VITAL OUTLET WHERE MUSIC
AND ENTERTAINMENT CAN SIT ALONGSIDE IMPORTANT SOCIAL
ISSUES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.
3. THE ISSUES
Healthwatch Essex YEAH (Young Essex Attitudes on Health & Social Care) found:
8/10 YOUNG PEOPLE DON’T KNOW HOW TO GET MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT
9/10 WANTED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH
“There is still a stigma attached to mental health.
Services in more familiar and friendlier places would help”
“People don’t know enough about mental health or the services available”
Responses from young people to mental health:
Reprezent Essex would become a multi-faceted destination for the county’s young people.
4. OUR AIMS & OBJECTIVES
AUTHENTICITY WAS KEY
By engaging London’s Reprezent FM and launching an independent Essex station, the NHS was to remain invisible,
yet deeply embedded within its target audience of 13 – 24 year olds. Using Reprezent as a conduit it would be
possible to achieve regular engagement, build resilience in the county’s community of young people, develop
relationships, and provide a voice for them to campaign in their own way.
We had to engage and harness the power of Essex’s tribe of young people by immersing ourselves in the space
both culturally and physically, talking in their language, understanding the complexities, successes and issues of the
scene, and working with them to build this from the grassroots up…
Reprezent Essex had to be the most credible new music destination
Recruit a free weekly radio training scheme
Drive downloads of the Reprezent Essex app as a platform for support
The diversity of the station’s music, conversation and personality was key to transmit
Positive conversations around mental health had to be introduced carefully and naturally
5. HOW WE INFILTRATED ESSEX’S YOUTH ECOSYSTEM
THE AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME
RESEARCH KNOWLEDGE ENGAGEMENT
EVENTS TRAINING SOCIALS
COLLABORATION
“Reprezent Essex have done this exactly the right way, doing
the research, getting to know us and the area, and finding out
how they can add to the scene, not just take from it.”
- KIRBY T, DJ & AMBASSADOR
Field trips, meetings and wider research shaped our insight into the county
Identified specific needs, behaviours and musical tastes from each territory
Engaged with local heroes to onboard as brand advocates
Curated talent for events, utilising their social networks to disseminate Reprezent Essex messaging
Developed original social content around programming and talent, positioning Reprezent Essex
within our audience’s ecosystem and as conversation starters
6. AMBASSADOR PROFILES

7. ON THE ROAD WITH REPREZENT
We developed a series of live events that both
responded to gaps in the local music scene and
celebrated music and the opportunities it can
present to young lives.
We raised the profile of Reprezent Essex with a
series of aspirational, inspiring & engaging events
and training at key locations. Roadshows with
local YMCAs and youth centres, an under 18s club
night, school visit and finale event provided an
inclusive vision for a positive future around music.

8. REPREZENT CTRL: SOUTHEND
A climactic 1 day takeover of Southend’s legendary Palace Theatre. Steeped in history, we transformed the space into an
urban music experience with educational and entertaining programming centred around grime’s hottest underground talent.
Stars like Sonny Green, Big Zuu, Dapz On The Map & Jay Sol took to the stage to perform, and we gave Essex’s grassroots MCs
the time of their lives as they were given the opportunity to perform on one of the grandest stages yet.
Attendees took to social media, authentically spreading the Reprezent experience to their network and sparking further
exponential interest in our ongoing activity in the county.
“Last night was a movie.
Thanks for bringing this
opportunity to us Essex MCs.”
- GEO MARTINEZ
