This document introduces an assignment asking students to create a 10-15 slide photo essay remixing contents from their personal archive. It discusses how remixing old texts and media is an important method for creative expression and community building. It also explains that an "archive" can refer both to a physical collection, like a library, as well as one's collective memories and influences. For the assignment, students are encouraged to think broadly or narrowly about their archive and source images from places like the internet, social media, or their own photos to create a narrative for each slide using autobiographical text, fiction, poetry, or theory.
