A multi-screen site, also known as a responsive website, is optimized to provide a good user experience across different devices like desktops, tablets, and mobile phones. Google prefers responsive websites to separate mobile and desktop sites as it allows relevant content to be searched more easily across one URL. Having a responsive design is also important for mobile searches, as Google will not show websites in mobile search results unless they pass a mobile-friendly test. Dynamic website personalization further improves the user experience by customizing content and messaging based on factors like location, number of visits, and time of day.

Asbestos: The Poster Child for 1976 TSCA Failure by Linda ReinsteinLinda Reinstein
This document discusses the ongoing dangers of asbestos. It notes that asbestos was banned by the EPA in 1989, but the ban was overturned in 1991 after industry sued. It provides statistics showing that asbestos continues to kill around 15,000 Americans each year. It also notes that asbestos consumption peaked at 31 million metric tons between 1900 and 2016 and that firefighters have higher rates of mesothelioma due to exposure to asbestos.

Asbestos: The Poster Child for 1976 TSCA Failure by Linda ReinsteinLinda Reinstein
The document discusses asbestos and how it is still a major public health issue, despite being banned in many countries. It notes that 15,000 Americans still die from asbestos-related diseases each year. It also discusses how the EPA banned asbestos in 1989 but the ban was overturned in 1991 after industry sued. It argues that asbestos is still a problem and was a key example used in the reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act.

"The Fight Against Asbestos in USA” by Linda Reinstein (2018)Linda Reinstein
The document discusses the fight against asbestos in the USA. It provides statistics on asbestos usage over time, legal cases related to asbestos exposure, and costs of asbestos-related diseases. It also describes efforts to ban asbestos in the USA since the 1970s, challenges in banning it, and current campaigns to raise awareness and push for stronger policy against asbestos.
The document discusses the dangers of asbestos exposure and mesothelioma. It notes that malignant mesothelioma deaths have increased 4.8% annually from 1999-2015. Asbestos was widely used in mining, manufacturing, and disposal industries, leaving 16 Superfund sites across the US. The asbestos industry engaged in propaganda, misinformation, and suppressing documents to cast doubt on the health risks. They hired scientists to produce research downplaying the dangers. The industry also spent millions lobbying politicians and had many former lobbyists and staffers appointed to the EPA under Administrator Scott Pruitt, weakening regulations. Despite being banned, asbestos imports into the US doubled in 2016, showing the ongoing health threats.

Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.
