In a study looking at more than 51,000 workers exposed to
asbestos between 1970-2010, approximately 43% had
died with an identifiable cause of death.
Residents of Manville, New Jersey, the location of the
largest asbestos manufacturing plant in North America had
an average annual (1979-1990) about 25 times higher
than average state rates.
Children and spouses of asbestos-exposed workers can
be fatally exposed to asbestos via fibers carried home on
work clothes if proper safety equipment and protocols are
not utilized. We call this exposure pathway "Deadly Hugs."
