Sony Deutschland GmbH, Stuttgart Technology Center during the period November 1s

, 2010 in our European Technology Center.
The Stuttgart Technology Center includes Research and Development groups concentrating
on a broad range of innovative research targeting future products and technologies.
Furthermore, the Environmental Affairs Europe supports all European operations of Sony with
respect to Environmental and Occupational Health as well as Safety Management. A state-of-
the-art EMC test laboratory ensures that electronic equipment operates safely and free of
disturbing emissions.
During her internship Ms. Sanchez-Tercero has been working in the "DVB-C2" Project. DVB-
C2 is the latest member of the DVB 2nd
generation physical layer standards. In order to verify
the consistency and performance of DVB-C2, the technical subgroup is creating test cases.
The resulting test vectors ensure that the standard is interpreted by all interested companies
in a unique and unambiguous way. In this project her work included:
• Creation of Sony test vectors for different test cases with the help of Matlab/Simulink
• Completion of the reference system implementation
• Adaptation of the reference system to different test requirements as e.g. in the area
of input processing and the frequency interleaver design
• Comparison of the resulting vectors with the results of other companies
Ms. Sanchez has used for her work the simulation environment Matlab in which she has good
knowhow.
Ms. Sanchez adapted in a short time to her new environment and acquainted herself with our
project and structures. Her tasks have been realized in a well-organized and structured
manner. Furthermore, her documentation has been made in a structured manner.
Ms. Sanchez showed interest in the assigned topics and successfully managed all tasks
addressed to her. She could easily integrate herself into the team. In addition, she has always
displayed a friendly and respectful attitude towards her colleagues and supervisors. She has
both, the ability to work closely together in a team as well as a good independent working
ability.
We thank Ms. Sanchez for her good contribution and wish her all the best for her further
studies and her personal and professional future.
