Rosmery Cooper was an exceptional student intern at Positive Living Niagara from September to April. She demonstrated outstanding organizational and professional skills, including excellent record keeping and report writing. Rosmery showed great compassion and empathy for clients, and was able to adapt best practices to meet their specific needs. For one developmentally disabled client, she successfully researched and developed a tailored teaching tool to educate the client on personal safety, which was a tremendous success. Rosmery was also able to adapt easily to different programs, settings, services and demographics during her internship. found her to be an exceptional student and very competent social worker. Rosmery has outstanding
organizational and professional skills. Rosmery easily utilized our client database and provided accurate case
notes. She wasmy “go-to”personfor recordkeeping,reportwriting and minute taking as she is organized and
professional and disciplined.
Rosmeryhasa greatdeal of compassion and empathy that is well-balanced by professional boundaries. She is
able to lookat bestpractice methodsandapplytheminherwork and she isable to take material and adapt it to
the specificneedsof the populationshe isworkingwith. For example, one client on her case load had a severe
developmental disability and limited language skills. Our challenge was providing education to this client on
issues of boundaries and personal safety in a manner that she would be able to comprehend. Rosmery
successfullyresearchedavailable materials,advocatedforthe implementationof aspecificmethodof education
and thensuccessfullydevelopeda teachingtool tailoredtothe needsof the particularclient, but was adaptable
enough to modify and adjust to differing settings and populations. The tool was a tremendous success and
provided our client with a level of understanding that we are delighted with. We plan to continue to use the
program Rosmery developed in future educational settings.
While atPositive LivingNiagara,Rosmeryinteracted and worked with a large variety of programs that focus on
differing target populations, educational settings, modes of service delivery and more. She had no trouble
adapting to different situations and demographics with ease and confidence. She has excellent skills in
collaboratingwithcommunitypartnersaswell ascolleaguesandhasa positive attitudethatisnotafraid tojump
in and get involved.
