- Let me introduce myself a little bit -1st year speaking for me - 1st year at Interop for NGINX
- Load balancing and application delivery has typically been done using hardware appliances provided by vendors such as F5 and Citrix. These appliances would be purchased from a reseller and managed by the networking operations team. But that is now changing, the market is moving to software. 30% of application delivery controllers or adcs in production today Application delivery controllers are load balancers with additional adjacent features to improve performance and security.
- A lot of that growth is being fueled by the application centric buyer. These are developers and devops teams that need greater control over the adc in order to deploy changes more quickly. The process of filing a ticket and waiting for someone in IT change for them is no longer acceptable Especially when there is open source software such as NGINX that you can install on your laptop and get a fully functional adc. Or in words application delivery should be in the handled the application team. Developers as well as Operations or DevOps teams as well. These teams want to use software And are willing to bypass IT and do it themselves. Talk about cost
