How to record with your instrument.

1. How To: Recording
an Electric Guitar
or Bass with an
Amplifier.

2. Hi! I’m Breno Lívio from São Paulo, Brazil! I have 17 years old.
I’ll be teaching about recording with an amp having either a electric guitar or bass :)

3. Well, there are two method to do this:
• Without a microphone;
• With a microphone.
Without a microphone, it’s good to have a software proper to that work. I recommend
Audacity and i show you how to achieve that on computer.

4. Without a Microphone
Way 1:
• An electric guitar or a bass; (really? =p)
• An ¼ TS cable;
• A Computer;
• An Audio Interface.
Way 2:
• An electric guitar or a bass;
• An ¼ TS cable;
• A Computer;
• An amp;
• And there’s a tip for you (i use): There’s a cable called “Rocksmith Real Tone Cable” that
can connect the amp to pc via usb, just connect behind the amp (i’ll explain where).

5. Without a Microphone
Way 3 (Good gear to people who want less distortion without a large budget):
• An electric guitar or a bass;
• An ¼ TS cable;
• A Computer;
• An Audio Interface;
• An amp.
Way 4 (More recommended to professionals):
• An electric guitar or a bass;
• An ¼ TS cable;
• A Computer;
• An Audio Interface;
• An amp;
• A direct box.

6. WAY 1
Get your guitar Get your ¼ TS cable

7. WAY 1
Plug in your guitar
Plug in the Audio Interface
(Instrument Input Hole)

8. NO!
First turn down the volume level of your
Audio interface to do not damage
your system! 
And after that...

9. Connect to
Your pc via Firewire/USB depending
Of your audio interface.
There’s a good image that i found it to

Your things in the audio interface.
To record you would try the
Audacity Software on PC/MAC.

10. WAY 2
Get your guitar Get your ¼ TS cable

Get your amp (remember the volume!)

Having connected the Cable in

On the PC.
Yeah! It’s easy!
But i warn you that is not a
Recommed way to record with
Your guitar/bass.

Get your amp (remember the volume!)
Get your Audio Interface
(remember the volume for this too!)

15. WAY 3
All needs to stay in that way!

16. WAY 4
And we have this, more recommended to professionals.
Find the appropriated holes in Direct Box to connect your instrument
And amp.

17. MICROPHONE
The same thing that the Way 4 Works, but with a microphone
Plugged in the Audio Interface.

It was a good work for me, just now i know that i can connect
The rocksmith cable (that i said on this lesson) with the Amp,
having a way to create effects without any software. Before i had
connected the Cable directly to my PC...
