My location will be in an industrial building warehouse inside which is located in
Fordingbridge, Hampshire, England. I chose a warehouse because from an action film’s
perspective they often set fight scenes in dark crowded places, where there are chances to
hide illegal goods in boxes within the shelves, which was also a common existing convention
which I found during my research. The use of the lighting could also be useful as I can
control different lights to be on at certain times in order to create tension in the
atmosphere for the audience, which I will use for when my main actor is being crept up on.
The stairs could also give me another option to use as an entrance for my actors if I feel it is
appropriate. The long rows of shelves gives a sense of an unending chain which could also
represent being trapped, however I will prove that you can never be trapped if you know
how to fight. There is also opportunity to film a few shots through the shelves to represent
another person looking through, I may need to remove a few boxes initially in order to
achieve a big enough image though. Additionally the untidiness of the set corresponds to
the dodgy nature of villains trying to work secretly in an ‘abandoned’ location.
My second scene is still within the warehouse but another section of it where there is a
canteen area with a long desk and black office chairs and double glassed doors separating
the ‘office’ and warehouse. I feel that with this location I could be sly with my camera work
and make it seem like the room is half the size it is by keeping tightly to the 180 degree rule,
giving it a more claustrophobic atmosphere. I may be able to add spotlights to the room in
order to achieve more tension in the environment.
