Last year we presented the vision and road-map of Gerrit multi-master setup at GerritHub.io. This year GerritForge and the Gerrit community have released the first version of the multi-site plugin, based on the legacy of the successful high-availability plugin started years ago by Ericsson.
The multi-site plugin is a 100% OpenSource solution and does not require any proprietary software installed or hardware/software level filesystem replication: it is fully based on the replication, healthcheck and multi-site plugins.
Multi-site is a journey and the Community is making big steps towards it.
QGIS is the most popular and used Geographical Free Open Source software in the whole world, growing fast and being a serious competitor to the near monopolistic proprietary alternative.
QGIS is born in 2002 thanks to Gary Sherman that was looking for a simple way to visualize geospatial data stored in a PostgreSQL/PostGIS database. In the following years more people got involved in the project and QGIS stared to become a complete GIS software with support for both vector and raster data. During these 18 years more and more people developed specialized geospatial algorithm to extract information from the data and to provide a simple interface for the end user. Different milestones have been reached, e.g. the support for thirdly part software, like GRASS, SAGA, Orfeo Toolbox and R; a Python interface has been added so that it is easy to develop new spatial algorithms as *plugins*. Thanks to these features QGIS quickly became popular and widespread. Public administration, private companies, Universities and GIS expert use QGIS and are investing resources back to the project.
The success of QGIS is due not only to work of developers and the resulting powerful and easy functions, but also to the strong community behind the software: document writers, translators participate not only *building* QGIS as a software but by growing QGIS as a **community**.

Microservices architecture allows a very rich and complex application to be split into loosely coupled components each maintained by an autonomous team possibly using different technology. At least that is the case for back-ends. Front-ends are still largely monolithic, even though frameworks help reduce complexity.
After explaining the basics of Web Components and Atomic Design, I propose how to use them respectively as a technical and organizational framework for building and deploying full-stack microservices. The full user experience is simply a composition of micro-front-ends themselves reusing a project-wide or brand-wide collection of base components.
A demo application is shown to illustrate these concepts.
Maria Guseva - The solution of merge hell in monorepomatteo mazzeri
For each PR bitbucket generates {pullRequestId}/merge branch, which simulates state of target branch after merge. To ensure a green trunk we have to run all related builds on this branch. After merge of one PR results of all other open PRs will be rollbacked and you need to restart all related builds because of updated upstream. Accordingly, we get a large number of rebuilds, which is a big problem in a monorepo. We solved this problem by developing a bb plugin based on independency graph.
Hybrid and Multi-Cloud Strategies for Kubernetes with GitOpsSonja Schweigert
One of the biggest advantages Kubernetes has to offer is that it is agnostic to infrastructure and capable of managing diverse workloads running on different compute resources. This allows organizations to manage multiple developer platforms, who can operate across many environments such as on premise, hybrid and multiple clouds.
Streamlined processes and automation is pivotal for operations when managing clusters at scale and maintaining security and policy checks. Paul Curtis, Principal Solutions Architect will demonstrate GitOps and Weave Kubernetes Platform in a hybrid and multi-cloud setup.
Learn how to:
Use model-driven automation to increases reliability and stability across environments
Simplify multi-cluster management with GitOps
Enable developers to push code to production daily (self-service)
Improve utilization and capacity management through Kubernetes platforms on cloud and on-premise infrastructure

J1 2015 "Building a Microservice Ecosystem: Some Assembly Still Required"Daniel Bryant
Microservice platforms are finally becoming a reality: Mesos, Kubernetes, and a whole bunch of PaaS-style offerings are available, but the reality is that these platforms still don’t provide everything you need in order to build a fully functional microservice ecosystem. Come to this session to learn about the essential deployment, orchestration, and glue components that often have to be self-assembled. The presentation begins by looking at deployment techniques and tools and examines where to test (QA, staging, or production), how to test (integration and contracts), and how to separate deployment and release. It then discusses orchestration, configuration, and service discovery. Finally it looks at essential glue such as logging, monitoring, and alerting.
At Seven, we had a unique issue where we had to roll out multiple platforms with analytics & data all at the same time. We didn't just want to put SDKs on each platform as it is not very cost effective. We ended up with a very good solution which is being proposed in this presentation.
Microservice architectures have generated quite a bit of hype in recent months, and practitioners across our industry have vigorously debated the definition, purpose, and effectiveness of these architectures.
In this session, Matt Stine will cut through the Microservices hype and examine some very practical considerations:
• Not an End in Themselves: Microservices are really all about helping us achieve continuous delivery
• Systems over Services: Microservices are less about the services themselves and more about the systems we can assemble using them. Boilerplate patterns for configuration, integration, and fault tolerance are keys.
• Operationalized Architecture: Microservices aren’t a free lunch. You have to pay for them with strong DevOps sauce.
• It’s About the Data: Bounded contexts with API’s are great until you need to ask really big questions. How do we effectively wrangle all of the data at once?
Along the way, we’ll see how open source technology efforts such as Cloud Foundry, Spring Cloud, Netflix OSS, Spring XD, and Hadoop can help us with many of these considerations.

Will Git Be Around Forever? A List of Possible Successors🎤 Hanno Embregts 🎸
What source control software did you use in 2008? Possibly Git, if you were an early adopter or a Linux kernel committer. But chances are you were using Subversion, as this was the product of choice for the majority of the software developers. Ten years later, Git is the most popular product. Which makes me wonder: what will we use another ten years from now?
In this talk we will think about what features we want from our source control software in 2028. More speed? Better collaboration support? No merge conflicts ever?
I’ll also discuss a few products that have been published after Git emerged, including Fossil, Veracity and Pijul. I’ll talk about the extent to which they contain the features we so dearly desire and I’ll demonstrate a few typical use cases. To conclude, I’ll try to predict which one will be ‘the top dog’ in 2028 (all information is provided “as is”, no guarantees etc. etc.).
So attend this session if you’re excited about the future of version control and if you want to have a shot at beating even (!) the early adopters. Now if it turns out I was right, remember that you heard it here first.

SOCRadar Research Team: Latest Activities of IntelBrokerSOCRadar
The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) has suffered an alleged data breach after a notorious threat actor claimed to have exfiltrated data from its systems. Infamous data leaker IntelBroker posted on the even more infamous BreachForums hacking forum, saying that Europol suffered a data breach this month.
The alleged breach affected Europol agencies CCSE, EC3, Europol Platform for Experts, Law Enforcement Forum, and SIRIUS. Infiltration of these entities can disrupt ongoing investigations and compromise sensitive intelligence shared among international law enforcement agencies.
However, this is neither the first nor the last activity of IntekBroker. We have compiled for you what happened in the last few days. To track such hacker activities on dark web sources like hacker forums, private Telegram channels, and other hidden platforms where cyber threats often originate, you can check SOCRadar’s Dark Web News.

Climate Science Flows: Enabling Petabyte-Scale Climate Analysis with the Eart...Globus
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is a global network of data servers that archives and distributes the planet’s largest collection of Earth system model output for thousands of climate and environmental scientists worldwide. Many of these petabyte-scale data archives are located in proximity to large high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing resources, but the primary workflow for data users consists of transferring data, and applying computations on a different system. As a part of the ESGF 2.0 US project (funded by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science), we developed pre-defined data workflows, which can be run on-demand, capable of applying many data reduction and data analysis to the large ESGF data archives, transferring only the resultant analysis (ex. visualizations, smaller data files). In this talk, we will showcase a few of these workflows, highlighting how Globus Flows can be used for petabyte-scale climate analysis.
First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.

In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.

Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.
