ScoutReach
Formally known as the Mohawk District, The North Florida Council’s
Scoutreach Division gives special leadership and emphasis to urban and rural
Scouting programs.
Scoutreach is the BSA’s commitment to providing all young people to have
an opportunity to join Scouting, regardless of their circumstances,
neighborhood, or ethnic background.
Today, young people are faced with many challenges as they often face
fragile families and disintegrating neighborhoods.
5. Adults applying to be a leader will automatically undergo a criminal background check with the submission of
the application. all leaders must be cleared by the BSA’s check to work with any registered BSA youth.
6. Youth
Protection
Youth Protection training can be done either online or in
person by a DVD presentation and offline quiz. It is required
by every registered adult to be FULLY trained before
working with any BSA youth to work
It must be re-certified every two years.
7. Each unit of Scouting has a “leader specific training”
online for every position, that outlines its general
responsibilities and expectations.

Cub Scout Pack:
BALOO – To have a Pack camp-out, at least one unit leader
must be BALOO trained.
Webelos Den Leaders:
Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders (OWL) – To have a
Webelos Den camp-out.
Scoutmaster & Assistants and
Varsity Scout Coach & Assistants:
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)– To have a
camp-out.
Sea Badge –
Advanced Leadership skills for unit, district and council Sea
Scouters.

Scouting
An annual all day training in a classroom
setting of many different skills and
techniques useful to scouting.
Scouting leaders can attend every year
earning their Associates bachelors and
Masters in Scouting!
12. Trainer’s Edge
Trainer’s EDGE is for adult Scouters who are interested in being part of our training teams for District
training courses, University of Scouting, Wood Badge, and NYLT. Participants would start with a
prepared 10-12 minute presentation on any BSA-related topic, such as advancement, Pack camping,
backpacking, high adventure, etc. and come with any necessary materials & equipment and Learn ideas
and methods to improve your presentations. The Trainer’s EDGE experience is useful in Scouting and
your non-Scouting career.
13. WoodBadge
Designed for ALL scout Leaders, Wood Badge for the 21st
Century is the premier adult leadership development course
for the Boy Scouts of America. It teaches contemporary
leadership and team-building skills in a comfortable outdoor
and indoor setting, where participants begin their experience
as Cub Scouts, bridge over into Boy Scouts and form patrols.
Participants take part in numerous presentations, discussions,
and activities that explore and advance a wide range of
leadership philosophies and tools.
WoodBadgers develop a Ticket, which is a written agreement
outlining how to apply new skills and goal-setting in Scouting.
by creating a personal vision mission statement and outlining
individual steps to personal success.
