FortisBC has a plan to bring natural gas to the community of Sicamous. The plan would involve transporting compressed natural gas from Salmon Arm to Sicamous via trailer trucks, potentially powered by natural gas. A distribution system would also need to be developed to service local businesses and residents. Customers would be responsible for conversion costs of around $200-800 for new meters and appliance conversion. Savings of 30-40% on energy costs are estimated compared to propane, which is currently used.
