Raung is one of Java's most active volcanoes located in East Java province. It has a 2km wide caldera surrounded by a gray rim lacking vegetation compared to the flanks. Raung stands 3,332m tall and contains volcanic centers along a northeast to southwest line, including Gunung Suket and Gunung Gadung to the northeast and west. Raung first erupted in 1586, resulting in fatalities, and had five more deadly eruptions between 1586 and 1817.

northeast and west, respectively.Mount Raung can be seen from Lovina Beach, Singaraja,North Bali.
The normal route climbingis through Bondowoso and Sumber Wringin.
Its earliestrecorded eruption was in 1586 which resulted in fatalities;between 1586 and 1817 five
more deadly eruptions were recorded.
