3. Thaba Bosiu
• Thaba Bosiu is one of the most special places
to visit during your Lesotho tour. It is
considered the birthplace of the Basotho
nation, and the country’s major historical
events have taken place there, and you can
also find the country’s major kings buried
there.

At the foot of the mountain, you will find the
recreation of a traditional Basotho village,
with its circular houses made of mud and a
museum that explains in more detail the
characteristics of this people who live in the
mountains of southern Africa. In addition,
there is an amphitheater where there are
often singing and dancing performances
typical of the Basotho culture.
• Thaba Bosiu is the most important historical,
spiritual and cultural site in the country. On
this mountain, King Moshoeshoe I established
his fortress in 1824 to protect his people from
the various wars, and founded what is now
known as Lesotho.
4. Kome caves
• The Kome Caves are a group of cave dwellings made out of mud in
the district of Berea, Lesotho 25 km east of Teyateyaneng.
• The caves are still inhabited by the descendants of the original
people who built the caves.
• The site has been classified as a National Heritage Site.
• The Kome Cave Dwellings, the Kome Cave Dwellings were built and
protected by Chief Teleka of The Basia(cat) Clan in the early 19th
century.
• The main purpose for the cave dwellings was to serve as a hideout
from adversaries during the drought in the late 18th century

7. Thaba Qiloane
• Other names for Qiloane are Qiloane,
latitude is -29.3511500, and longitude is
27.6829100.
• Popular things to do in Qiloane are art
galleries, climbing, abseiling, adventure
parks, boat rides, wildlife, festival, nature,
statues, parks, natural places, walking trails,
ranches, towers, gardens, forest, off-road

8. Mount Moorosi
• Mount Moorosi, including the Sebapala
Valley, is a town situated in
the Quthing region of Lesotho.
• This historical town is home to the cliff-
fringed fortress of Chief Moorosi who was a
thief in the 1850s. The Sebapala Valley is a
magnificent high mountain valley located on
the A4 road.
• A campaign against Chief Moorosi was started
in 1879 and led by the Baphuthi people.
• Together with the help of the residents
of Mount Moorosi, a wildlife conservation
program has been set up in order to help
protect the Bearded Vulture.
• All vehicles are able to visit the area via
the newly built tar road that connects Qachas
Nek in the East to Maseru in the South
Western.
9. Thabana Ntlenyane
Thabana Ntlenyana, which literally means
"Beautiful little mountain", is the highest point
in The Kingdom of Lesotho, a landlocked
country and enclave, entirely surrounded by the
Republic of South Africa.
It is also the highest mountain in southern
Africa (south of Kilimanjaro).
Thabana Ntlenyana is situated on the ridge of
the Drakensberg mountains near Sani Pass, a
spectacular mountain road that is a well-known
entry point into Lesotho from South Africa’s
Natal Drakensberg Park.
Lesotho is the only independent state in the
world that lies entirely above 1,400 metres
(4,593 ft), which you'll find out pretty fast if you
try to enter the country.
10. Events and activities
• The mountain range is host to activities including hiking trails, horse
trails, rock climbing, white water rafting, fly and trout fishing, golfing,
bird and game watching, safaris, and much more.
• In addition to regular activities, Mokhotlong hosts the annual High
Altitude Summer Marathon at the end of the year.
• The route runs through the Maloti Mountains and is characterized by
its views of surrounding mountains and villages.
• The route has many steep ascents and descents.
• There are also half marathon and 10k events, in addition to the full
marathon.
