Skip counting is a method of counting numbers by regularly increasing the count by a fixed multiple other than one, such as counting by twos, threes, fives or other numbers. It allows students to practice counting sequences of numbers in a forward direction by regularly increasing amounts to build familiarity with patterns in the number system beyond simply counting by ones.
