Visualizing Model Selection with Scikit-Yellowbrick: An Introduction to Devel...Benjamin Bengfort
This is an overview of the goals and roadmap for the Yellowbrick model visualization library (www.scikit-yb.org). If you're interested in contributing to Yellowbrick or writing visualizers, this is a good place to get started.
In the presentation we discuss the expected workflow of data scientists interacting with the model selection triple and Scikit-Learn. We describe the Yellowbrick API and it's relationship to the Scikit-Learn API. We introduce our primary object: the Visualizer, an estimator that learns from data and displays it visually. Finally we describe the requirements for developing for Yellowbrick, the tools and utilities in place and how to get started.
Yellowbrick is a suite of visual diagnostic tools called "Visualizers" that extend the Scikit-Learn API to allow human steering of the model selection process. In a nutshell, Yellowbrick combines Scikit-Learn with Matplotlib in the best tradition of the Scikit-Learn documentation, but to produce visualizations for your models!

The AI-powered employee Appraisal system based on a credit system is a softwa...Chan563583
The AI-powered employee Appraisal system based on a credit system is a software application that aims to provide an efficient and fair way of calculating employee incentives in an organization. The system will use artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms (classification) to analyze employee performance data and assign credits to each employee based on their performance.
The system will work by first defining a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) that are relevant to the organization's goals and objectives. These KPIs could include metrics such as sales revenue, customer satisfaction scores, or project completion rates. Each employee's performance data will then be measured against these KPIs, and the system will assign credits to each employee based on their performance.
The credits assigned to each employee will be used to determine their incentive payout, with higher-performing employees receiving a higher payout. The system will also have the capability to adjust the weight age of different KPIs based on the organization's priorities and objectives.
The classification algorithm used in the system will continuously learn and improve over time, as they are fed more data and feedback from the organization. This will ensure that the system remains relevant and accurate as the organization's goals and objectives evolve.
Application Performance: 6 Steps to Enhance Performance of Critical SystemsCAST
See more ways to improve application performance: https://www.castsoftware.com/use-cases/Improve-adm-quality
This white paper presents a six-step Application Performance
Modeling Process using software intelligence to identify potential performance issues earlier in the development lifecycle. Enriching dynamic testing with structural quality analysis gives ADM teams insight into the performance behavior of applications by highlighting critical application performance issues, especially when combined with runtime
information.
By adding structural quality analysis, ADM teams learn important information about violations of architectural and programming best practices earlier in the development lifecycle than with a pure dynamic testing approach. Structural quality analysis as part of the performance modeling process allows for fact-based insight into application complexity (e.g. multiple layers, dynamics of their interactions, complexity of SQL, etc.) and allows ADM managers to anticipate evolution of the runtime context (e.g. growing volume of data, higher number of transactions, etc.). The combined approach results in better detection of latent application performance issues within software. Resolving application performance issues early in the development cycle, these alerts help to not only save money but also prevent complete business disruptions.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
2. Validation Validation is the process of assessing how well your mining models perform against real data. It is important that you validate your mining models by understanding their quality and characteristics before you deploy them into a production environment.
3. Performance Validation When applying a model to a real-world problem, one usually wants to rely on a statistically significant estimation of its performance. There are several ways to measure this performance by comparing predicted label and true label. This can of course only be done if the latter is known.
4. Performance Validation in RapidMiner The usual way to estimate performance is therefore, to split the labeled dataset into a training set and a test set, which can be used for performance estimation. The operators in this section realize different ways of evaluating the performance of a model and splitting the dataset into training and test set.
7. The two parts of the validation operator: Training and Testing
8. Visualization Visualization operators provide visualization techniques for data and other RapidMiner objects. Visualization is probably the most important tool for getting insight in your data and the nature of underlying patterns.
9. SOM plots Visualize model by SOM: Generates a SOM plot (transforming arbitrary number of dimensions to two) of the given data set and colorizes the landscape with the predictions of the given model. This class provides an operator for the visualization of arbitrary models with help of the dimensionality reduction via a SOM of both the data set and the given model.
