Cross Editorial Metadata Platform (CEMP)
The CEMP project aims to provide a strategic cross-editorial metadata platform that can centrally serve the metadata
needs of news production systems and enable them to adopt new and more granular coding schemes.
The system will source metadata from Database of Records, NDA and RCS. NDA supplies Organization data in a feed called
RDC Generic and RCS will provide Reuters Classification Schemes, RBSS, RRR and CCS. These two DBoR will provide the core
metadata required for Editorial Content Creation and Publication.
The CEMP system will comprise a number of logical layers operating as data collectors, data validators, and data
mappers and data storage for the various input data feeds. Ultimately; the different layers will collaborate in order to provide
consumer systems with the final flat files holding metadata organization and exchange data formatted specifically for each
system. The new Cross Editorial Metadata Platform will make this information available to Editorial Servers and Client
Applications through two primary interfaces: A daily FTP metadata feed containing both Organizations and Classification
Schemes (as currently supplied by EDCO), A Web Component for Organization and Classification Scheme Queries and retrieval.
