Egyptian cotton
There are various types of cotton in the market obtained from different species of cotton plants. You hear the most common Egyptian cotton. This cotton is a term commonly applied to extra-long staple (ELS) cotton produced in Egypt. Egypt's climate allows cotton fibers to grow extra long which classifies it as an ELS fiber. Egyptian cotton is usually 1 ¼ to 2-inch staple length. In its purest state, Egyptian cotton can produce the highest quality fabrics that provide exceptional hand and durability. Pima cotton a sister to Egyptian cotton is a generic label given to extra-long staple cotton developed by the United States in the early 1900s.
Egyptian cotton fiber is unique among all cotton varieties. It grows under specific geographical and climatic conditions of heat, sun, moisture, and rich soil. This makes Egyptian cotton fiber longer, stronger, and more durable. This long-staple and extra-long-staple Egyptian-grown cotton produces a fine yarn that is smaller in diameter but stronger than other cottons. This fine, long-staple yarn is woven into the fabric with a higher thread count per square inch of material (higher thread count) for a softer, more luxurious feel.

Egyptian is a market class representing G. barbadense produced in Egypt. Barbadians. The market class began to develop in the 1820s when Jumel's cotton entered commercial production. It was a type of cotton that had been grown in the region for some time, but a French engineer named Jumel recognized its potential as a source of fiber after seeing it growing as an ornamental in a garden in Cairo. Based on its description, it appears to be a recently evolved long-fiber type of G. barbadense from the New World. Encouraged by Jumel's success with cotton, the Egyptians experimented with other seeds, including the Sea Island. The next major breed in Egypt, the early Ashmouni, was probably a hybrid between Jumel and Sea Island. Similarly, the following major variety, Mit Afifi was probably a hybrid between early Ashmouni and a sea island variety. In the latter half of the 19th century, cotton production in Egypt increased dramatically due to the expansion of irrigation and increased demand due to the US Civil War. It has been important ever since.

2. Q500
Emilcotoni created the finest cotton on earth, unique for strenght,
structure and lightness.
The raw material used is a special blend of Extra long staple
cottons made expecially by Emilcotoni and named "Top blended
Cotton" to spin the finest cotton available.
One kg of this cotton contains 500 km of yarn. This means that
with one kg of it you can link Milan and Rome together.
3. Sea Island Cotton
Choosen by the English Crown as "the" cotton, the West Indian Sea Island
Cotton is doubtless the best cotton in the world.
The real West Indian Sea Island cotton, named in Latin “Gossypium
Barbadense”, grows only in the best climatic conditions and it is cultivated only
in the British West Indies.
The West Indian Sea Island cotton, after being handpicked, is skilfully processed.
This rare and expensive raw material is made by the longest cotton fibres
available.
Furthermore this cotton has the finest existing micronaire ranging around 3,00
and giving it its characteristic resistance, silky and shiny look.
A sharp control system and a strong net of commercial partners guarantee the
full authenticity of this rare and precious material.
W.I.S.I.C.A. (West Indian Sea Island Cotton Association) controls on the premises
very harvest kg and supplies its certificate of authenticity.
4. Q380
"Sottile Emozione", thin emotion. The original idea
that led to Q 500.
Using the longest fibres available with the COM4
compact spinning system and a special twisting
technology, we create a yarn with exceptional
resistance, strenght and structure.
This yarn belongs to the Q and Wear family and, also if
a 100% cotton, it behaves like a cotton/elastic blend
making it suitable to both flat and seamless knitting
machines.
5. Giza 45
Quality, brightness, high resistance, extra long and
superfine fibres. Its rarity made him famous among
the cottons from Egypt.
The raw material used by Emilcotoni to produce its
Giza 45 come exclusively from selected Egyptian Giza
45 bales. This fiber, known as the kind of Egyptian
cotton is hand picked and then spun with special
machines: exceptional lenght and brightness (very
similar to silk) give to this yarn the handfeel and look
of a top quality product.
6. Suvin
A true rarity. The Indian Suvin is an extra long staple
cotton with an extremely long and fine fiber.
Together with the West Indian Sea Island Cotton and
the Egyptian Giza 45, the Indian Suvin is considered
one of the best cottons in the world .
The origin of this yarn is the breeding of the famous
Gossypium barbedense in India in the late thirties but
only in 1971, after countless hybridations, the Indian
Suvin was born from the crossing between the Sujata
and the SIV 35 qualities.
7. SuperPiuma
Selected from the best ELS fibers, this cotton is what
the Egyptians called the white gold.
Some years ago, Emilcotoni and an important egyptian
cotton grower undertook the challenge of creating a
very high quality cotton and the result is Superpiuma.
In a small area of the Nile's delta a special quality of
cotton with the characteristic of Giza 45 and Suvin is
grown on behalf of Emilcotoni; the result of this fields
is the raw material that lies inside our Superpiuma .
8. Supima Superwash
Supima Superwash is a top quality american cotton
engineered by Emilcotoni to have an extraordinary
resistance to water.
A cotton with extreme performances, this is what
Emilcotoni's Superwash is.
It is born from an extra long staple Supima Cotton (just the
3% of the total Supima production) grown in Texas, Arizona
and California.
These materials are spun with particular machines and
techniques, resulting in a yarn highly resistant to water.
9. Active
High tecnology cotton that maintains the bode temperature at a
constant level making garments very confortable and dry.
Emilcotoni's Active is an innovative yarn that produces high
frequency long infrared rays at a temperature between 34 and 37
degrees.
The ceramic micro parts ensembled in Active absorb energy and
give it back to the body as heat: this is generated by water
molecules of our body that produce and exchange heat with the
fabric.
The result is a pleasant sensation of dryness and confort all over
the body.
