Question 7 media
1. Looking back at your
preliminary task, what do
you
feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the
full product?
2. Editing…
Editing the film was not a problem for me, I’ve used Sony Vegas to do the editing, I’ve used
this program before in my own time allowing me to gain knowledge of how the program
works. I used that knowledge to create a final edit of my film. After spending most of the
time on the editing during the process of the film, I learnt to not over edit my clips.
Putting lot’s of effects and speeding up or slowing down clips isn’t necessary sometimes as
it may make the film look bad. The quality of the clips are most important…
I’ve only used Sony Vegas to edit my clips which is
really simple toe use, but I wish to use more advanced
editing software's for effects and colour correction to
expand my editing skills.
4. Using the Camera
Just the editing wasn’t good enough to create a perfect product. The clips that we use,
need to be good enough to edit, some of the clips we used was out of focus giving our film
some negative points…
For filming we used my own camera (Nikon d3100), which makes filming much easier as I
know how to use this more than the cameras that the school have. However I wasn’t the
cameraman. Chris knapp is in charge of the camera for our film, since the camera is mine I
can explain to him how it works.
Some of our clips were ‘wobbly’, this is not a
mistake. As our film is a dream sequence we thought
the use of having some wobbly shots would be
effective.
Focusing
Some of our clips were really blurry, we
had to retake a few clips but we forgot to
retake one clip in which we had to get rid
of that shot as the old one was to blurry
and we had no time left to redo it.
After filming I learnt that focusing is one of
the key elements to filming…
5. Continuity
Continuity is key to keeping the audience hooked to our film. Unrealistic parts
will cause the audience to stop watching. Our film uses quite a few over
shoulder shots, we made sure not to cross the line during the filming of these
clips.
I think our films continuity is quite successful as we didn’t cross the line or
have any faults of our actors costumes.
Our group gained more thought on continuity after filming, we would focus on
continuity for each shot we take.
6. Mise En Scene
Me and my group thought about Mise En Scene carefully.
Lighting
We didn’t want to use any artificial lighting for our film as we thought it was unnecessary
and we wanted to keep the film looking natural. After filming we learnt that patience is key
when using natural lighting because it can differ everyday.
