2. Editing
The clips for the men last longer than the clips that include the woman
showing the weakness of females.
3. Sound
Rock music is played as background music which is typically
mainly for males to listen to… The music also suggests the age of
the characters which would be over 20’s as people these days
don’t listen to rock but pop/mainstream music now… The
dialogue of the scene tells us a lot about the characters. The man
that replies to the main character ends his sentence with ‘sir’
whilst the woman just casually says her line which may suggest
the woman has power…
4. Mise-en-scene
The characters in the scene are all wearing army outfits (apart
from one) which obviously suggests the age group they are
which is over 20’s… The scene also shows a woman in an army
outfit which is not a stereotype which we expected. The man in
the suit is wearing a glasses and holding a glass which connotes
that he’s the important character of the scene and almost like a
celebrity that needs to be protected by soliders…There are more
men than woman in the scene which maybe suggests that
woman are too weak the join the army. .
5. Mise-en-scene
The woman is shown driving the car rather than the men, which
can connote two reasons why she's driving. One would be that
she is more powerful than the men and she’s a very masculine
woman. Two would be that she can easily get dominated, that
the men got her to drive instead…
6. Camera Angles
The camera mainly focuses on the men than the woman suggesting that the
woman isn’t important at all. The scene only shows three camera shots of the
woman. Two of which are only the shot of the woman's side showing no
importance as you can’t see her full face. The third which actually shows the
woman’s face but two of the men are in the shot meaning that men can easily
dominate over the woman… The shot also ends really quickly which suggest
the same.
