The document summarizes techniques learned from a preliminary photography task to a final main task for a rock magazine, including improved time management, organization, lighting, and photo quality. Key skills learned involved using props and costumes to suit the genre, creating professional-looking elements like headers and barcodes in Photoshop, and designing spread and content pages that follow magazine conventions.
7. FROM MY PRELIMINARY TASK…
I have improved my time management, being able to meet
deadlines.
Be organised and book the green room to take my
photographs with appropriate props and lighting.
I knew which photographs were appropriate to use, if a
image had too much shadow I wouldn’t use this as he
quality isn’t good.
I thought this image would go
well In a rock magazine
however I didn’t use it as the
lighting is too dark and causing
the face to look too dark.
I have learnt how to use better vocabulary whilst doing
many analysis.
8. PROPS
Before booking the green room I planned
out he props I will be using. I have used a
variety of props to suite my Magazine
genre, I have included
A leather jacket, lolly pop, black and
Purple gloves, and an electric guitar. As an
electric guitar associates with rock.
9. MAKE- UP & COSTUME
I have put red lipstick onto my model to match the colour
scheme of my rock magazine. I have also dressed her in a
stripy black and white top to match the cover- lines.
I have smudged her eye-liner and lipstick in some photos
to suggest she has been crying, to go with the double
page spread context, as most people who like rock are
likely to be depressed or sad. In my double page spread
image I have wrote on her arm
10. FROM MY PRELIMINARY TASK…
I have learnt how to make a professional looking
puff.
Before After
I have learnt how to put an
outline around my puff. I have
also learnt how to make my text
stand out by using bevel and
emboss on Photoshop.
I have learnt how to make a professional barcode
Before After I have learnt how to make my
barcode look more professional
by adding an outline around it and
a blackberry messenger barcode,
twitter and facebook websites this
is appropriate for the 21st century
where social networking is used.
11. I have learnt how to make my cover- lines stand out
and know it is necessary to make a main cover- line
linked to the main image
Before
After
I improved my
cover- lines by
using blending
options and
using stroke to
give an outline
for it to stand
Out.
12. I have learnt how to use different lighting using the
green room from my preliminary task to main task.
After
Before I have improved
on manipulating
my photos and
learnt how to
take quality
pictures by using
different lighting
in the green
room.
I have learnt how to put my
models hair over the
masthead, and made my
models are lighter as the
shadow made it too dark.
13. I have learnt how to make a professional looking
contents page by looking at other rock magazines
such as Q.
I have included sub-
Before headings and After
categories into my
contents page to give
more page numbers
as there would be in a
music magazine. I
have included a
masthead on the left
corner to follow the
conventions. I went
from a basic contents
page to a professional
looking magazine,
using more than one
Image.
14. For my double page spread I created a montage of
image of my main model. I learnt how to plan out
my work effectively with my main model looking
down at the images. I also changed the opacity of
certain images so that the text in the columns are
readable.
