Structure your discussion by using the different stages of the
production process: research, planning, production, post-production
and evaluation.
Group together the different technologies you used for each stage,
i.e. research = software (mahara, google, youtube, etc.) and
hardware (macs, ipads, etc). Some technology you may have used
again in a different stage but used it in a different way - i.e. target
audience research - ipads to video vox pops interviews; post-
production - ipads to record voiceover.
3. Include all the technology you have used
throughout the whole process from research through
to distributing your film, for example:
Websites/online applications
Software
All computer equipment
Filming equipment- not tripods.
4. Work through them in a logical order (order of
process?) and discuss how you used these
technologies. Go into particular detail when
discussing post-production, e.g. the functions and
tools you used in Final Cut Pro X and what this
enabled you to achieve.
As you work through, include discussion of how
the technology enabled you to overcome
problems/find creative solutions. What was most
challenging/most rewarding to learn/use? Also
consider the strengths and weaknesses of these
technologies in helping you create your products,
journals and evaluations.
5. Research
When it came to research, we had to split the work
up between us all in order to make sure it was done.
There was a lot of research and planning that went
into our teaser trailer. We ,made use of mahara,
google, YouTube as well as hardware devises such as
macs, ipads, phones, cameras.
This research was done so that we were able to then
work through every other process efficiently and as
a team.
6. Planning
When we were planning, we had to ensure
that we had the right amount of research
before the planning process.
With planning, we had to create many
drafts and do mind maps and other
planning strategies in order to ensure that
we were sure of what we wanted to
product when it came to the final product.
7. Production and post-
production
We used many tools in the production process in
order for us top get the final result that we wanted.
The functions and tools we used in Final Cut Pro X
allowed us to develop on our skills and learn new
things about this software.
In the post-production process we would have used
things like ipads in order to record voiceover for our
trailer.
8. Evaluation
Also consider the strengths and weaknesses of these
technologies in helping you create your products, journals and
evaluations.
Using these technologies allowed us to over come problems
such as not having as much knowledge on particular software
so it tool longer in order for us to complete the tasks.
The most challenging thing about it all was getting all the
work done and ensuring the final result was exactly the way
we wanted it to be.
Strengths were that we worked as a teams and we were able
to achieve the criteria efficiently and to the deadlines.
Weaknesses were that we weren't extremely good at editing
on final cut and on Photoshop and illustrator as we hadn't
used it that often.
In conclusion, I feel that I have learned a lot from this process
and I have developed on my skills from this task.
