The document discusses the influences and creative process behind a student music video project. It was most influenced by Carol Vernallis' concepts of editing and diegesis. The video used multiple settings of beaches and London. Close-ups of the performer were included per Andrew Goodwin. Stealomatics from other artists' videos were added. The influences of Bruno Mars, Alan Walker and Justin Bieber videos can be seen in the camerawork, editing and focus on setting. Creating special effects in After Effects was a challenging convention explored. Overall, the students learned new skills in Premiere Pro and creating an engaging music video.
3. CAROL VERNALLIS
FROM VERNALLIS WE USED EDITING, WHICH SUGGESTS THAT THE CONVENTION OF MUSIC EDITING IS THE
VIDEO. WE ALSO USED DIEGESIS (SETTING) WE DONE THIS BY TRYING TO ENHANCE/CHANGE THE SETTING
AND KEEP A THEME. . OVERALL WE FOLLOWED CAROL VERNALLIS KEY CONCEPTS MORE THAN GOODWIN’S.
This is from our music video this
included editing on Adobe Premier Pro.
This is a shot of the setting we have
multiple of these in our music video.
We kept the setting of London
throughout, but also included some
beach scenes.
4. ANDREW GOODWIN
THE MAIN IDEAS THAT WE'VE USED IN OUR MUSIC VIDEO FROM GOODWIN IS THE IDEA OF MULTIPLE CLOSE
UPS OF THE MAIN ARTIST.
This is a close shot we got of the
performer, it could have been closer
up. But through out our video we keep
the distance between the performer
and the camera.
5. STEALOMATICS
OUR STEALOMATICS WE ADDED TO YOUTUBE IN A VIDEO WE MADE. THE STEALOMATICS SHOWED THE
VIDEOS OF BRUNO MARS, FADED AND JUSTIN BIEBER. WE ALSO USED HELLO, BY JAYDEN SMITH. THIS VIDEO
GOES WELL WITH OUR SONG.

6. SETTINGS
• WE HAVE THE TWO SETTINGS OF THE BEACH AND CITY OF LONDON. THESE BOTH DON’T COMPARE, BUT WE
THOUGHT ABOUT CHANGING IT UP A BIT TO MAKE THE VIDEO SEEM MORE INTERESTING.
• IN THE MUSIC VIDEO THE DIFFERENT SETTINGS COULD CONFUSE THE AUDIENCE BECAUSE THE SETTING IS
NOT KEPT THE SAME. LEAVING THE AUDIENCE TO THINK WHY THIS HAS HAPPENED.
7. VIDEO INFLUENCES
IN OUR STEALOMATICS VIDEO WE USED FOOTAGE THAT INFLUENCED US. IT HAD THE TYPE OF IDEAS WE
WANTED TO INCLUDE IN OUR VIDEO. SOME OF THE VIDEOS INFLUENCED OUR WHOLE VIDEO BUT SOME
HOWEVER WE DID NOT USE AT ALL TO HELP US. THESE VIDEOS WE USED WERE: BRUNO MARS- " THAT’S
WHAT I LIKE" THIS VIDEO WE DID NOT USE AT ALL AS IN OUR VIDEO AS AN INFLUENCE AS THERE WAS NO
DANCING, BUT IN THE ORIGINAL PLAN WE WAS INFLUENCED BY THIS. THE OTHER VIDEO WE USED WAS
FADED BY ALAN WALKER AND JUSTIN BIEBER, I’LL SHOW YOU. HERE ARE SOME SCREENSHOTS OF OUR VIDEO
AND THE INFLUENCES. From our music video the
performer is mostly
wearing a backpag. This
is one of our props. From
our video influence
faded by Alan walker, you
can see he does the
same. It is also like he is
going on an adventure
and we have similar
shots through out.
8. In this shot in our video we are trying to
concentrate on the setting. Like in the video I ‘ll
show you. They both have their hoods up too like
the same in faded by Alan Walker. This music
video influenced us as we wanted to concentrate
on the diagesis as well as the performer. Hyperlink to the
video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfGaX8G0f2E
9. ASPECTS OF THE VIDEOS THAT INFLUENCED US
AN ASPECT THAT INFLUENCED US FROM THESE VIDEOS WERE THE USE OF CAMERAWORK. LIKE THE ANGLES
AND SHOTS USED. SOME OF THE EDITING IN BRUNO MARS WE WERE INFLUENCED BY. OUR MUSIC VIDEO
INCLUDED A LOT OF EDITING AND HAS THE THEME THROUGHOUT THE VIDEO. BRUNO MARS USES EDITING.
In Bruno mars there
is drawings in the
left corner with the
drawings of
buildings. These
types of drawn
images influenced
us. As in our video
we have drawn
marks on to the floor
as the performer
does a flip and hits
the floor.

10. The shots in the music
video faded was an
aspect that we was
influenced by as it has
high shots of buildings
and the diagesis. Also
through out the music
video it carries on
concentrating on the
setting with the type of
shots allowing the
performer to be in the
shot but not too close
up so the audience can
see the setting as well.

11. CHALLENGE OF CONVENTIONS
IN OUR MUSIC VIDEO A CHALLENGING CONVENTION WAS USING NEW EFFECTS. FROM OUR GROUP TRAVIS
HAD TO DO/LEARN AFTER EFFECTS IN HIS FREE TIME. HE DONE THIS BY WATCHING YOUTUBE VIDEOS. IT WAS
CHALLENGING BECAUSE WE DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO USE PREMIER THAT WELL TO DO THE EFFECTS USED IN
OUR MUSIC VIDEO. FOR EXAMPLE IN OUR MUSIC VIDEO WE HAVE CHANGED THE BRIGHTNESS OF A SHOT,
SLOWED DOWN THE SHOT, REWINDED A PIECE OF FOOTAGE AND MANY OTHERS. OUR MUSIC VIDEO REALLY
FOCUSES ON EFFECTS AND EDITING.
12. OVERALL…
WE LEARNT WHAT A MUSIC VIDEO IS AND WHAT EFFECTS AND SHOTS CAN BE USED. WE HAVE ALL LEARNT
NEW SKILLS, IN USING ADOBE PREMIER, AND LEARNING WHAT MAKES A GOOD MUSIC VIDEO. SO THAT OURS
IS GOOD FOR THE AUDIENCE.
The genre of our music video is
house/dance music.

15. We have kept the theme going in
our digipak. It looks a lot like our
website too. The colour themes we
have kept with the orange and
black.
We’ve used the same font with
the colours black and white.
We have tried to keep it eye
catchy for the audience.
Through out we have kept it
quite visual for the audience we
have included quite a few
photos all featuring the artist.
Our digipak links
with our website,
they are very
similar and keeps
the theme going.
This is helpful as
the audience can
easily recognise
the artist.
The CD cover is also very simple, with just our
logo on. However, we have changed the black
instead of orange because we thought there
would be too much orange.
16. OTHER DIGIPAKS THAT INFLUENCED US
Like this digipak looks like ours
with the black coloured outline
and the hint of orange colour.
The synergy goes well and the
back cover for the songs
stands out.
This digipak for Ed Sheeran has the same similar
colours we have in our digipak.
17.
18. Our song
available to
listen to on
website and
even to buy the
album or song.
This is a
technical code.
Our music
video on
YouTube
available to
watch.
This is our logo, which is
orange and black- keeping the
main themes.
Our website
allows the
audience to go
on the artists
social media. We
have connected
it to snapchat,
twitter and
Instagram.
These are the different pages you can view for various things like
biography, merchandise, and gallery. We have kept the same font for
these, with the capital letters so its more known to the audience.
We have kept the
artist as the
home screen for
our website. In
our website
research this is
what most artist
websites look
like. It is also the
same picture as
on our digipak,
which is keeping
a theme going.
19. OTHER WEBSITES THAT INFLUENCED US
This website has the same type of set out as
ours, with the tabs you can click on a the top
and the photo of the artist, in the middle. It
shows how you can easily identify the artist.
This one we did not really use to
influence us, but looking at what
was included in this helped us.
20. On our website there is
our tour dates which
allow the audience to
book tickets.
We also have a blurred picture of the artist in London.
The reason for this being blurred is so that it doesn’t
stand out over the tour dates.
The theme of black and
orange is still going on.
The white text is very
outstanding against
these colours.
21. This is our
merchandise, they
come in the colours
of black, white and
orange. Which are
again our coloured
theme all through
the website, music
video, and digipak.
Again the coloured font is
kept the same.
