and to have later taught the technique to his mother. His mother,
Elizabeth Gregory, "made a wicked deep-fried dough that cleverly used
her son's spice cargo of nutmeg and cinnamon, along with lemon rind,"
and "put hazelnuts or walnuts in the center, where the dough might not
cook through", and called the food 'X'.

Monty Norman and lyricist Julian Moore wrote this song, "Bad Sign,
Good Sign," in 1961 for a musical adaptation of V.S. Naipaul's novel
"A House for Mr. Biswas." The musical never made it to the stage. But
the tune has served him well. Monty Norman adapted it for a movie
later. Lifting the melody directly from the musical and a change of
instruments made the tune a classic which everyone would have heard
many times.

13. 6 Find X
The X logo was said to be modeled to mimic the trident of Neptune, the mighty Dreizack. The
trident symbolizes power and authority. The X trident is more commonly attributed to the
technological ‘power’ one can get from attaching X to the computers and other devices. The
triangle, square and circle at the tip of the three-pronged spear in the X logo are placed there to
signify all the various peripherals that can be attached if the standard devices are used.
“No other weapon shows as much versatility as much as a Trident does. Be it a dagger, an arrow,
a single or double edged sword. The closest that comes is a pitchfork, but it already has a
negative connotation, thanks to its association with the Devil. So only the Trident remains. So
you see, the versatility and universality is the key factor here”.
