The Role
• The Qatari government has developed a comprehensive
set of ICT initiatives to enable Qatar’s National Vision
2030 to build a knowledge-based economy.
• Qnbn has been set up by the government in order to help
achieve the vision of a national broadband network for
Qatar.
• Qnbn received a 25 year license to provide Qatar with
fiber optic broadband throughout the country.

Qnbn - A Government Initiative
 Qnbn leases passive fiber infrastructure to telecom services
 Appropriate national wholesale prices are set to:
 Ensure low retail rates across Qatar
 Give margin to operators
 Make Qnbn self-sufficient in the long-run
 95% FTTH coverage nationwide using a combination of P2P
and GPON technologies
 Provide wholesale access and core fiber across Qatar
 Rollout network in greenfield areas and lease existing ducts
wherever available
 Qatari government owns 100% of Qnbn
