Qatar was the successful bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, becoming the first Arab state to do so. However, Qatar faces extreme heat in June/July, with average highs over 50°C. In response, Qatar plans to build stadiums with cooling technology to reduce temperatures by up to 20°C. They unveiled plans for the first five stadia, designed to be partially disassembled after the World Cup to donate facilities to less developed countries.
