Plastic bags shouldbe banned. They cause
massive pollution in oceans, endangering
sea life. For example, research shows that
over 100,000 marine animals die each year
due to plastic ingestion. Alternatives like
reusable cloth bags are safer and eco-
friendly.

Reading books shouldbe part of every
student’s daily routine. Books improve
vocabulary and strengthen critical thinking
skills. Studies also show that students who
read regularly perform better in school. By
spending just 20 minutes a day on reading,
learners can gain knowledge and develop
lifelong learning habits.

Directions: Read a short persuasive article then they will highlight the following
details using specific colors:
“Why Schools Should Ban Junk Food in the Canteen”
Schools should ban junk food in the canteen because it harms students’ health
and learning. Junk food such as chips, soda, and candies may taste good, but they
are full of sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats. According to a 2023 health survey,
students who eat junk food regularly are more likely to become overweight and
have less energy in class. Replacing these snacks with fruits, sandwiches, and
water will not only improve students’ physical health but also help them
concentrate better in their studies. A healthy diet leads to a healthy mind, and
schools have the responsibility to support both.
