PyWPS is a Python-based implementation of the OGC Web Processing Service (WPS) standard that allows users to expose processes via WPS. It supports various geospatial libraries and tools like GRASS GIS, GDAL, and R. PyWPS acts as a thin wrapper between these processing backends and the WPS protocol. Users code custom processes that PyWPS makes available via WPS. It has been used in several projects and applications.

Reason meets OCaml
- Reason is a syntax extension to OCaml that compiles to efficient JavaScript. It has a rock solid type system and access to the OCaml ecosystem.
- ReasonReact provides React bindings for Reason. Components are defined in a similar way to TypeScript but use Reason's type system and compiler.
- Examples show how stateless and stateful components are defined in ReasonReact compared to TypeScript. ReasonReact uses OCaml's type system and reducer pattern while TypeScript uses interfaces and state.
- Interoperability with JavaScript is supported through modules, raw JavaScript blocks, and using the platform. Reason aims to leverage the strengths of both OCaml and React.

gulp is a task runner tool that improves workflow. It uses streams to run tasks concurrently for maximum speed. gulp has a minimal API with tasks, src and dest functions. It is faster than Grunt as it runs tasks concurrently without writing to temporary files. The future of gulp includes support for ES6 and improved error handling in gulp 4.

With an organically growing mess of scripts glued together and triggered by cron jobs hiding on different servers, we needed better plumbing. After perusing the data pipelining landscape, we landed on Airflow, an Apache incubating batch processing pipelining and scheduler tool from Airbnb.
Abstract
The power of any reporting tool breaks based on the data behind it, so when our data warehousing process got too big for its humble origins, we searched for something better. After testing out several options such as Drake, Pydoit, Luigi, AWS Data Pipeline, and Pinball, we landed on Airflow, an Apache incubating batch processing pipelining and scheduler tool originating from Airbnb, that provides the benefits of pipeline construction as directed acyclic graphs (DAGs), along with a scheduler that can handle alerting, retries, callbacks and more to make your pipeline robust. This talk will discuss the value of DAG based pipelines for data processing workflows, highlight useful features in all of the pipelining projects we tested, and dive into some of the specific challenges (like time travel) and successes (like time travel!) we’ve experienced using Airflow to productionize our data engineering tasks. Python performance engineering in 2017
This document discusses profiling Python performance. It begins by acknowledging that Python can be slow due to the Global Interpreter Lock (GIL) and lack of a just-in-time (JIT) compiler. It then demonstrates how to profile a Python program using the pyflame tool to collect stack samples and convert them to a flamegraph for analysis. Django deployment with PaaS
This presentation was given at the Boston Django meetup on November 16, and surveyed several leading PaaS providers including Stackato, Dotcloud, OpenShift and Heroku.
For each PaaS provider, I documented the steps necessary to deploy Mezzanine, a popular Django-based CMS and blogging platform.
At the end of the presentation, I do a wrap-up of the different providers and provide a comparison matrix showing which providers have which features. This matrix is likely to go out-of-date quickly because these providers are adding new features all the time.

Für die meisten Sprachen hat sich in den letzten Jahren und Jahrzehnten ein Tool als Build-System etabliert. Maven für Java, Make für Linux, SBT für Scala usw. und so fort. Doch was ist mit Web-Anwendungen die z.B. auf AngularJS basieren, bei denen die gesamte UI im Browser läuft, die immer komplexer werden, die immer mehr Code enthalten und aus immer mehr einzelnen Dateien bestehen. Wer oder besser gesagt womit baut man hier seine Anwendung? Wer führt Tests aus und wie liefere ich solche eine Anwendung aus? Welche Hürden sind hier zu nehmen?
Mit Grunt hat sich 2013 ein modernes JavaScript Pendant zu Ant etabliert. Doch bei genauerer Betrachtung ist Grunt zwar moderner, aber trotzdem ähnlich abstrakt und low-level wie Ant. Hier kommen Bower und fabs ins Spiel: Bower kümmert sich um Dependencies und fabs konfiguriert Grunt um einen feature-reichen, anpassbaren Build zur Verfügung zu stellen.
In meinem Vortrag beim Karlsruher Entwicklertag 2014 habe ich gezeigt wie mit Grunt, Bower und fabs ein moderner Build und Development-Workflow mit LiveReload, Test-Ausführung, Code-Minimierung und vielem mehr aufgebaut werden kann um auch große Web-Anwendungen mit mehreren Entwicklern schnell voran treiben und zuverlässig ausliefern zu können.

PyWPS-4.0.0
PyWPS is an open source Python implementation of the OGC Web Processing Service standard. It allows users to publish and discover geospatial processes that can be invoked remotely through a RESTful API. Some key points about PyWPS include that it supports all geospatial tools available in Python, uses standards like WFS and WCS, and allows processes to be run asynchronously and in isolated containers. How Prague is opening data

PyWPS Status report
Jachym Cepicky gave a status report on PyWPS. PyWPS is an implementation of the OGC WPS standard written in Python. Version 4 is being rewritten to take advantage of improvements in Python and geospatial libraries since version 1 was created in 2006. Version 4.0 includes validators, a server based on Werkzeug, an IOHandler, and file storage. Version 4.1 is planned to include output via GeoServer, MapServer and QGIS, a REST API, and database/external storage. Progress has been limited by lack of resources for the open source project.
Geosense Geoportal
The document discusses the transition of Geosense's mapping portal from OpenLayers 2 to OpenLayers 3. Some key points made:
- Geosense wanted to replace their old OpenLayers 2-based portal which had performance issues with large datasets.
- After attending FOSS4G in 2014 and seeing OpenLayers 3 presentations, Geosense decided to rewrite the portal from scratch using OpenLayers 3.
