The city of Jericho had impenetrable walls that seemed to make conquering the city impossible for Joshua and the Israelites. However, God instructed Joshua to have the priests march around the city blowing trumpets for six days, and then on the seventh day march around it seven times. When they blew the trumpets on the seventh time, the people were commanded to shout, and miraculously the walls of Jericho collapsed, allowing the Israelites to conquer the city. True worship of God involved the complete obedience of Joshua, the priests, and the army to God's unconventional commands and promises.
