Puli Aval
Ingredients
400 gmsaval or poha
15 gms tamarind
Salt to taste
8 gms Bengalgram dal
8 gms urad dal
1 sprig curry leaves
5 gms dry red chillies
½ pinch turmeric powder
3 gms red chilli powder
10 gms green chilies
Pinch asafoetida
15 ml sesame oil
Method
Wash aval and drain.
Soak tamarind in a cup of water. Extract juice and pulp.
Heat oil in a frying pan add mustard seeds ,lentils, dry red chillies, chopped
green chillies and asafoetida, toss , add tamarind pulp simmer until the raw
flavour disappears, add turmeric powder and chillipowder,
Sprinkle avalin the above mixture, simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally.
Add salt to taste and Serve hot.
