Partnerships
• For librarians, the notion of continuity in the midst of change is a perennial theme that both worries and
invigorates the profession.
• It is clear that librarians are beginning to think about relationship building. They are recognising it as an
important component of their duties, and some are making tangible efforts to approach it in a more
programmatic fashion.
• The quickest ways to ruin a relationship and damage a reputation, either by librarians or faculty, are to
neglect key deadlines, fail to return e-mails, or not supply agreed-upon deliverables.
• Both librarians and faculty members value the importance of good two-way communication.

Online publishing
• Formats - PDF, HTML, opportunity to create accessible content.
• Opportunites for non-traditional content - media, interactive content, etc.
• 👉 You will need a separate ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) for an online and print edition. It is free and easy to obtain from ISSN Ireland.
Open Access
• Openly accessible content is more easily discovered, cited and shared online.
• No administrative overhead of managing subscriptions/payments.
• Choose an open license to facilitate open sharing and re-use and no cash flow.

● Who will own copyright in your journal, e.g. the author or the
journal/publisher?
● What license will your content be released under, e.g. a Creative
Commons license?
● How will you handle publishing agreements with authors?
👉 Do not put the © symbol on your journal website or content without
having the underlying copyright policy and publishing agreement with
the authors.
