Aging Latinos in Action - ALA
CCCIL is committed to developing the staff and community leadership necessary to ensure that our local aging Latino population can lead the most independent and healthy lives possible. CCCIL’s ALA initiative rests on the premise that a community rooted in a culture of independent living and health requires outreach, education, engagement, action and reflection.
ALA directly addresses CCCIL’s priority areas including 1) Developing an engaged constituency of community leaders with disabilities to act on local issues that will build and maintain a healthy, vibrant and independent community; and 2) Addressing the needs of the rapidly increasing aging population as it naturally increases in needs for disability services These two priorities are intimately interwoven as the cultural needs of specific populations including Latinos and aging adults pose unique opportunities and challenges as our nation re-invents how we look at access to care and health. Further, as disabilities are a natural part of the aging process, CCCIL is uniquely qualified to develop leadership in this area.
With investment from the UU Fund for a Just Society, CCCIL will have the opportunity to focus on the outreach, education and action that will both serve and organize a larger constituency of Monterey County’s aging Latino adults.
With the UU investment, the ALA initiative will continue its 8 month pilot project into a second year and focus on:

THIS WEEK’S WORK IS TWO DISCUSSIONS. Week 6: Social Change and Professional Development
The characteristics of program design and evaluationare intended to provide some level of recommended change or action as a result of the systematic investigation into a program’s effectiveness. Evaluation can provide answers to questions about a program that may be useful in adjusting a program to become more effective. Because evaluation results in insight about the effectiveness of a program for a specific population, evaluation can be used to implement social change or action. Evaluation findings may assist stakeholders (those who hold an interest) or decision makers in go/no-go decisions about specific program modifications or initiate the continuation or demise of the entire program. Today, social policy and public administrative movement are closely associated with social program outcomes and effective evaluations.
This week, you present your design for a program addressing the needs of the homeless population in your community and analyze how your program may effect social change. You also evaluate your potential to impact areas of human services delivery and assess the benefits of participating in professional human services organizations.
Objectives
By the end of this week, you should be able to:
· Analyze how human services program design and evaluation influence social change
· Evaluate personal impact on areas of human services delivery
· Analyze how professional organizations contribute to professional development

Assignment 1At the heart of democratic public administration and.docxdeanmtaylor1545
Assignment 1
At the heart of democratic public administration and leadership is the goal to serve the public interest while seeking to achieve the underlying policy goals of equity, efficiency, security, and liberty. How would you integrate an understanding of the public interest into your organization? Use at least two specific examples. Make sure you define the term “public interest” in your answer. With this in mind, consider the following questions.
Sometimes critics will assail “democratic public administration” with the following remarks:
“You just can’t let employees vote on everything!”
“If you let employees have too much say, they’ll just cut back their work hours or productivity!”
“I can’t let employees have this much say because they just don’t know enough of the rationale behind our decisions!”
What would be your response to these types of critiques? Or do you agree with them?
By the due date assigned, post your response to this Discussion Area.
Assignment 4

Case Study Continued – Week Five
You have been performing in the role of project manager in support of Ms. Jackson’s vision of creating a
strong and talented project management professional team leading to stronger project execution. Ms.
Jackson has just called you into her office with a few updates:
• ACME has been revisiting their strategy and decided that product development will become a
heavy focus for the organization over the next three years. Due to this product development
focus, she wants to also implement an Agile training program which will specifically focus on
Scrum techniques. Ms. Jackson has asked for you to add it to the scope of the current training
program which was approved when you submitted the business case. She is not familiar with
change management principles so you will have to create a change form and high level change
process that the team will follow. Ms. Jackson is willing to give you an additional $15,000 in
budget but would like this completed in the same timeframe as the initial project request. The
$15,000 is her budget but may not be based upon what the actual costs may be. According to
your research, adding Agile may cost an additional $20,000 and have to be done subsequent to
the initial training program which has already been scheduled.
• In addition, upon a recent review of your risk register with your team, a risk that was identified
as high impact is seemingly turning into an issue. This risk was related to the potential turnover
in training personnel. You have just learned that your top trainer may be leaving the project for
a new opportunity.
• The current forecast of the project indicates that your cost estimate may have been too low.
Current projections indicate that beginning in month five of the project, you may be exceeding
your budget by $10,000 per month.
• Other key indicators:
• Your actual month end scheduling data shows that you are currently performing
according to plan and all tasks are being completed on time.
• Your last staffing report shows very little project team attrition or turnover.
• Early surveys from participants in the training show a high degree of satisfaction.
Changes such as these are not uncommon in the project management profession. Determining
whether the request constitutes a change in scope, schedule, and budget is an integral component of
project management.
Using your business case, project charter and stakeholder analysis, determine how this new
information will impact your project. What type of change process will you be recommended be
implemented?
Assignment Overview:
For this assignment, you will be assessing a proposed change to the scope of the project, proposing an overview of a change management process, drafting a change request form, and discussing how the change will be communicated to the stakeholders inclusive of the sponsor.
Learning Connection:
This assignment.

· Government grants
· Two federal grant opportunities with at least one related to your statement of needs
· One state grant
· One local (city, county, or school district) grant
· Foundation sources
· Two foundation grants- at least one should be appropriate to fund your project/program
· Corporate source
· One corporate grant
Assignment 6
Most funders will request an evaluation of the grant program. The funder wants evidence that the funded program achieved its intended outcomes. Therefore, understanding types of evaluation methods and evaluation criteria is important. Using the course material and additional research:
1. Discuss formative and summative evaluations.
2. Research evaluation criteria used in three grant proposals, identify the criteria used, and discuss any commonalities between the criteria.
3. Now that you know more about program evaluations, how might you write the grant proposal differently?

Read the Alliance Supermarket” case study in Chapter 10 of your t.docxleonorepour284
Read the “Alliance Supermarket” case study in Chapter 10 of your text.
Alliance Supermarkets has been using a point-of-sale (POS) system for some time to track its inventory. The system uses a laser scanner to read the universal product code (UPC) on each item at the checkout container. The UPC is a number that uniquely identifies the product on which it appears. Currently, Alliance is using the UPC information to update inventory records for each item. Although the system has greatly improved the company’s ability to replenish inventory promptly, the company still has some problems. For example, sudden changes in demand for a particular item can catch the company by surprise as it bases inventory replenishment on historical demand patterns. Further, demand patterns and preferences may vary from one store to another depending on the customers served by each, but the inventory system groups all demand information together and treats each store equally. Finally, the manufacturers that make the products stocked by Alliance Supermarkets are always pressuring Alliance to help them target appropriate customers for special promotions and sales.
The chief information officer (CIO) of Alliance realizes that much more could probably be done with the data collected from its POS system. For example, the company could analyze the relationship between each product’s sales and weather patterns. It is even possible to analyze an individual customer’s buying habits and identify instances in which a customer may be persuaded to try a different brand of a certain product.
For this assignment be sure to address the following points:
Study this situation and formulate new and innovative uses of the information from the POS system. Ideally, these ideas should help Alliance better serve its customers by ensuring that adequate quantities of each item are available, that costs are kept low, and that customers are made aware of new products that may interest them.
Describe any information that may help Alliance reduce costs while providing better service.
Propose a new approach that could be used by Alliance by using the purchase information that can be obtained on individual customers.

Read Ethics in IT. Information technology is the engine that make.docxleonorepour284
Read: "Ethics in IT." Information technology is the engine that makes business run smoothly. Organizations today have policies guiding the use of company equipment, customer records, and use of the Internet. An organization's integrity can be questioned when the Internet is used capriciously, or if customer records are not carefully guarded. Systems for protecting customer records from "hacking" are essential and policies for reporting hacking activities are required. Using the principles outlined in the article, discuss how an employee has the responsibility of reporting known breaches of cyber-security. Further, discuss the consequences to a major retailer when a breach is discovered.
To ensure your participation meets the expectations, refer to the G.R.E.A.T. Discussion and Feedback guidelines provided in the Resources. A well-developed post, one that would be considered "distinguished," will usually be between 250 and 350 words. Also, please post your initial discussion (main post) by Thursday to allow time for your peers to respond.
Response Guidelines
After posting your initial response, read your peers' posts. Respond to two of your peers. Are you in agreement that reporting violations of policy is always necessary?
A well-developed response is generally stated in 50–100 words. Besides responding directly to your peers' comments, the responses should expand the dialogue by asking questions or adding new information.

What Bryan found on an executive's computer six years ago still weighs heavily on his mind. He is particularly troubled that the man he discovered using a company PC to view pornography of Asian women and of children was subsequently promoted and moved to China to run a manufacturing plant. Bryan's case is a good example of the ethical dilemmas that IT workers may encounter on the job. IT employees have privileged access to digital information, both personal and professional, throughout the company, and they have the technical prowess to manipulate that information. Ideally, corporate policy takes over where the law stops, governing workplace ethics to clear up gray areas and remove personal judgment from the equation as much as possible. But many corporate policies are ill defined, fail to keep up with new technologies and are poorly communicated to the IT department.

Conflict is almost certain to occur in work teams due to the fact that they are comprised of different people possessing different perceptions, personalities, and behaviors. Although incredibly effective, work teams may stumble upon barriers which must be overcome to allow for growth and continuation towards the common goals of the group. It is quite possible that a work team may perform without the presence of conflict, but oftentimes certain measures have been implemented to prevent such conflict from occurring. Occasional conflict, if managed appropriately, can lead to creativity, better decision-making, and improved results. However, too much conflict can lead to a decrease in performance and group cohesion. In global organizations there is an opportunity for cross-cultural differences that may increase conflict. Contained herein are both the positive and negative consequ.

Exploring Innovation in Action
Sewing up the competition – innovation in the textile and clothing industry
Manufacturing doesn’t get much older than the textile and clothing industry. Since the earliest days when we lived in caves there’s been a steady demand for something to wrap around us to keep warm and to protect the more sensitive bits of our anatomy from the worst of the elements. What began with animal hides and furs gradually moved into a more sophisticated activity with fabrics woven from flax or wool – and with people increasingly specialising in the business.
In its early days this was very much a cottage industry – quite literally people would spin wool gathered from sheep and weave simple cloths on home-made looms. But the skill base – and the technology – began to develop and many of the family names we still have today – Weaver, Dyer, Tailor, for example – remind us of the importance of this sector. And where there were sufficient cottages and groups of people with such skill we began to see concentrations of manufacturing – for example, the Flemish weavers or the lace makers in the English Midlands. As their reputation – and the quality of their goods – grew so the basis of trading internationally in textile and clothing was established.
The small-scale nature of the industry changed dramatically during the Industrial Revolution. Massive growth in population meant that markets were becoming much bigger whilst at the same time significant developments in technology (and the science underpinning the technology) meant that making textiles and clothing became an increasingly industrialised process. Much of the early Industrial Revolution was around the cotton and wool industries in England and many of the great innovations and machinery – such as the Spinning Jenny – were essentially innovations to support a growing international industry. And the growth of the industry fuelled scientific research and led to devel.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Unit 4 DB
Primary Task Response:
Your first task is to post your own
Key Assignment Outline
(
from the information in Unit 4 IP
) to the discussion area so that other students are able to review
your plan. Attach your document to the main discussion post,
and include any notes you feel are appropriate. The purpose of
this assignment is to help improve the quality of the Key
Assignment Draft you will complete next week.
Unit 4 IP
You have been appointed to be a part of a special committee
that is responsible for devising policy procedures and a budget
for the organization’s earthquake preparedness. The last
earthquake in 2003 exposed areas of weakness within the
organization, regarding the need for emergency equipment and
supplies. You and your committee will need to draft a proposal
8. that will address what earthquake emergency equipment and
supplies will be required, as well as a budget that will show
how much the items and overall expenses will cost to maintain
and replace expired items.
The budget needs to include how many staff members will be
needed to operate the emergency preparedness department. You
should begin your proposal by identifying the population size
being served by your public administration organization and by
identifying any other factors about the population being served
that are relevant to your overall proposal. Examples of other
factors could be matters related to geography, the needs of a
particular subpopulation, or regional weather patterns.
Secondly, the committee will need to propose an earthquake
policy to address the proper protocols if and when an
earthquake should occur. The policy needs to stipulate what
emergency procedures need to be followed. The policy should
include the frequency of earthquake drills by all personnel and
who is responsible for stocking the earthquake supplies and
maintaining the emergency preparedness budget.
Finally, the committee needs to include a rationale in the
proposal for what challenges the organization may face in
implementing and maintaining the operations of the emergency
earthquake preparedness.

I WILL PROVIDE THE INFORMATION WHEN I RECEIVE
IT.
Revise and amend your Week 4 Key Assignment by adding what
you learned in the post-DB’s following the task, as well as
taking into consideration your instructor’s comments.
