Thailand is experiencing rapid population aging. By 2040, there will be 16.6 million elderly people, accounting for 27% of the population. The needs of Thai elderly include healthcare, income security, and living assistance. Thailand has responded through laws, a National Elderly Committee, and policies like monthly allowances and health programs. However, challenges remain around care standards, workforce shortages, and balancing community and institutional care. Future challenges include developing elder caregivers, urban elderly models, and ensuring quality long-term elderly care.
