2. Prosumer
• A prosumer is a person who purchases
electrical goods which are in-between
consumers and professional standard.
• Don Tapscott and Anthony Williams explain
this idea through wikinomics which describes
the collaboration and user participation on
the market place and corporate world.
3. 4 Principals
• According to Tapscott and Williams there are four
key concepts of wikinomics which are openness,
peering, sharing and acting globally.
• Openness means having an open attitude to
external ideas and resources, peering moves
away from hierarchy and encourages
collaboration, sharing which is an approach to
products, intellectual property, bandwidth and
scientific knowledge that isn’t proprietary and
acting globally which embraces globalization at a
corporate and individual level.
4. Web 2.0
• This concept of prosumers could be related to
how web 2.0 tools have become particularly
familiar to our generation through the change
from static web pages to dynamic or user
generated content.
• Web 2.0 tools have enabled people to share
resources and information online
consequently applying the four principals by
showing collaboration.
