Two university students travel to Europe after a pandemic and book a house called REVEROF house. When they arrive, the suspicious taxi driver jokes about the house's scary history. When the students enter, the door slams trapping one inside. The other pounds on the door in a panic, realizing "REVEROF" spelled backwards is "forever". The film is left on a cliffhanger as the student is frozen in fear over this realization.

1. Proposal
The title of the film – The House on the Hill
Film summary
The film I am going to be creating is called ‘The House on the Hill’. It is a
drama/horror, with a lot of comedic aspects. The film is about two university
students, a girl and a boy, who go travelling in Europe and book a house to stay at
called the ‘REVEROF house’. To create my film I am going to be utilising similar
techniques that other comedy/horrors would to create a sense of suspense and tension
whilst also trying to make my audience laugh. The way I will be doing this is, creating
a mise-en-scene that accurately represents the codes and conventions of a horror
comedy, a wide range of shot types, implementing a range of editing techniques like
montages and flashbacks, etc. I took inspiration from films like the ‘scary movie’
collection, because they manage to build suspense whilst making the audience laugh,
however my film will be less satirical.
Logline
Two adventurous university students set out to travel after a global pandemic,
however after a run in with a shady taxi driver, their house on the hill may not be
what they expected.
Film treatment
Two university students set out to travel Europe after the end of a pandemic. They
get to the station and after almost missing their train, begin their journey.
They meet a suspicious taxi driver, who takes them to their accommodation. Whilst
on the journey, he makes jokes about how the house they’re staying at has a lot of
scary history, however he reassures them that this is all a joke, and even laughs at Joe
for falling for it.
Once they arrive at the house, Joe feels nervous and sheepish. His counterpart, Mel,
goes straight for the house with no hesitation. The door opens its self, and after she
steps in it slams, trapping Mel inside the house.
Joe sprints to the house to help Mel, in a sheer panic he pounds on the door whilst
hearing Mel scream for help; neither of them can open the door, as it has locked. Joe
sees the plaque on the door which spells ‘welcome to REVEROF house’, and soon
realises reverof spelled backwards is forever. The film is left on a cliff hanger, and we
see Joe frozen in fear after his realisation.
Screenplay structure
Act 1 – An introduction to the characters and the setting of the film. The audience
gets to know the protagonists.

2. Act 2 – We start to feel the sense of suspense after the taxi driver has revealed the
information about the missing girl
Act 3 - The house is revealed, and the conflict happens (Mel gets trapped in the
house) and Joe has the realisation of what reverof means. The audience is left on a
cliff-hanger.
Characters –
Character 1 – Joe – the protagonist who tried to help Mel
Character 2 – Mel – the protagonist who is trapped in the house
Character 3 – taxi driver – the antagonist, knew what their fate was
My target audience
My target audience would be the younger generation, (15 onwards) as even though it
is a drama/horror and it is quite suspenseful, there is also aspects of humour that I
will get across in my film that I think would appeal more to the younger generation.
I’ve took inspiration from horror films like Scary Movie, which is also targeted
towards the younger generation as they are more likely to find it humorous, over the
older generation.
