Rotating Tower project:
Moscow/Dubai: 12/7/2008
One project of
particulate interest is
the much anticipated
Rotating Tower of
Moscow and Dubai, where
each
floor will rotate
around the central core
of the building. The
patent for the concept
is owned by David
Fisher, an acclaimed
Italian architect who
works out of
Florence under the name
Dynamic Architecture. He has signed an agreement
with the Russian development corporation Mirax Group
July 12th
of this year. The project is now in the stage of
coordination, but it is already known that the total area
of the tower will be approximately 130.000 mq. With
over 60 floors, office and retail premises will comprise
the ground floors while apartments are to incorporate
much of the rest. Due to its innovative nature,
engineering and method of construction will likewise be
unique; all pipelines connecting to the central part of the
floor while being made section by section; all MEP
systems and furniture to be pre-installed before
adjoining to the core structure. Working costs are
estimated at $4,000/mq, so that total investment is likely
to exceed $400 million. The beginning of construction
is planned for the end of 2008, the commissioning of the
tower into operation scheduled for the first half of 2011.
