Boca Raton beach clean up is a way to engage the residents of Boca Raton to get involved and aid in beach clean ups and learn more about responsible disposal of waste.
2. What is Boca Raton beach clean-up?
◦ Boca Raton beach clean-up is a way to engage the community
and fellow Boca Raton residents in maintaining our beaches clean
and healthy. We are a group of volunteers that strive for clean and
safe marine life environments. These weekly beach clean ups are
a way to give back to our communities and a way to maintain our
bodies of water up to par with the standards residents of Boca
Raton strive for.
3. Why Boca Raton Beach clean-up was
created
◦ According to www.prevention.com, “In 2013 reports found that
10% of beach water samples taken nationwide failed to meet the
most protective federal public health standard used to assess
water quality at American beaches—EDA newly-created “Beach
Action Value.” This means that most beaches in the US are not
safe to swim in, this is a problem not only for humans but for
marine life as well more importantly.
4. What’s different about our beach clean-
up
What makes us different than other local beach clean ups is that
we are weekly, and we provide you with the proper uniform attire
and we responsibly dispose of trash.
5. Inspiration behind Boca Raton beach
clean up
◦ I was born and raised in South Florida and I have always been an avid
beach goer. I have personally seen how ugly, dirty and dangerous our
beaches can become due to ignorance and neglect. Not only is the
beach a home for thousands of marine life but it is a source of tourism
in South Florida. Maintaining a sustainable and clean beach
environment is crucial to the health and economic well being of our
residents and marine life.
6. Boca Beach Clean up Goal
◦ Our goal at Boca Beach Clean up is to provide an accessible way for
residents of the Boca Raton area to assist in the up keeping of our local
beaches. The ultimate goal is to reduce garbage substantially so that
our beaches and ocean decrease in pollution.
7. How a dirty beach can be dangerous
◦ According to www.plasticrubbish.com, “Most plastics are oil derived and non biodegradable.
Which means plastics last for decades, centuries, possibly forever.” Plastic is not all the same
there are some non-biodegradable and some biodegradable plastics. Biodegradable plastics
just mean that EVENTUALLY they will composite, and just because they are compostable can
also mean they leave behind a toxic residue because they are oil derived. This causes danger
and harm to marine, and human life over time.
8. Target Audience
◦ The target audience for this project are the residents of Boca Raton
specifically. We welcome any volunteers from the Palm Beach county
though and we would love any and every outsider or tourist to join in at
least one week to experience the importance of maintaining a healthy
beach.
9. Get involved today!
◦ This project hopes to reach as many volunteers and residents of Boca Raton as possible to
spread the word about healthy beach living! If you or a friend would like to be a part of this
journey please visit our website to make a difference in your community today!
