3. INTRODUCTION
• Resort construction involves multiple activities (blocks, pool, landscaping) making
time and cost control challenging.
• Delays often arise due to labor, material shortages, or site conditions, leading to
cost overruns.
• Project management tools like MSP and Primavera P6 help in scheduling,
monitoring, and analyzing performance.
• This study applies these tools to a Resort Project to identify lagging activities and
evaluate time–cost performance using Earned Value Management (EVM)

4. Aim & Objectives
• AIM: To study the role of Primavera and MSP in identifying, managing, and
reducing construction project costs by analyzing scheduling, resource allocation,
and lagging activities.
• OBJECTIVES:
To efficiently plan and schedule construction activities using Primavera.
To identify and eliminate time and cost overruns through tracking tools.
To analyze delays and implement corrective actions.
To optimize resource allocation and reduce idle time.
To enhance overall project performance and cost effectiveness.

5. Methodology
 Collect project data (activities, durations, resources).
 Develop WBS and input in MSP & Primavera.
 Create baseline schedule.
 Record actual progress from site visits.
 Conduct lagging analysis (planned vs actual).
 Apply Critical Path Method and Earned Value Analysis.
 Generate dashboards & reports for visualization.

scheduling for the timely completion of a two-storey
residential building in Dindugal. All activities were
identified, their sequence, duration, and required
resources were planned and scheduled using Primavera
P6 software. The process included defining work tasks,
estimating resources, calculating durations, and
identifying task interactions. The study concludes that
with effective planning and scheduling, the project can
be completed ahead of the contract period, thereby
reducing both time and cost while ensuring efficient
use of resources. This demonstrates the effectiveness
of Primavera in managing residential construction
projects.
