This document discusses using shape matching techniques for detecting building changes from remote sensing imagery. The objective is to quantify urban evolution and assess damage from disasters by extracting building shapes from multi-scale images. The methodology involves image enhancement, edge detection, preliminary and complete boundary detection of buildings, and change detection using feature matching. High resolution satellite datasets like Sentinel-2, IKONOS and SPOT-6 are used, with the study area planned for Bengaluru or Mumbai depending on data availability.
