This document discusses Kanban boards, retrospectives, and process tailoring in Agile planning. It provides the following key points:
1. A Kanban board shows the current status of tasks within an iteration using cards or notes in different locations. Retrospectives are regular reviews where teams discuss what worked and improvements for the next iteration.
2. Techniques for effective retrospectives include Norm Keith's prime directive, brainstorming, and mute mapping.
3. Process tailoring involves customizing Agile processes for a situation, such as changing roles, processes, or milestones.
The document discusses the risks of greenwashing, which is misleading consumers about a company's environmental practices or a product's environmental benefits. It summarizes a study that found the percentage of advertisements making environmental claims is increasing. It then outlines the "Seven Sins of Greenwashing", such as making claims without proof, being too vague, or falsely implying third-party certification. Examples of greenwashing litigation and the FTC's role in policing false environmental claims are provided. The presentation emphasizes the need for third-party verification of product environmental impact claims to avoid greenwashing.

Introduction: Following the award of the contract to supply backpacks with built in refrigerated pouch and radio module, I would like to start the process of developing the product for timely delivery to our client. The contract entails producing and supplying backpacks given a budget of $1,500,000. The time duration is for the contract is one and half year from the award date. The expected deliveries have been split into three dates with the first and the largest expected to be made in September 1, 2016 and the last on last day of the contract. Given the milestones, we need to do a project review at the client’s site to strategize on how to start the project.
Customer: U.S. Army, Ground Forces and Special Operations.
Initial program action items: The product design needs be brainstormed. We can interact with the client to agree on the desirable design of the project based on the project definitions specified above. More specifically we need to brainstorm on the preconditions of functional and operational requirements and design limitations. I would like to assess the current and future transport issues which we need to sort. We need to identify different alternatives before choosing the most viable alternative to use to transport the finished products to the client. We also need to assess the environmental issues relating to the production and transportation of the product. If need be we should get a permit and address any regulations relating to environmental issues. This is aimed at mitigating the risks of the product development. Finally, we need to start placing orders to suppliers to facilitate the development process.
Project Risks / Risk Mitigation strategies: The first risk is delayed accomplishment of the set milestones. This may be escalated by the number of employees of the contractor and the work involved in each product. The problem may be solved through increasing the number of employees even if it’s casual workers until the project is completed. The second risk is the financial risk whereby the increase in cost of labor may be out of the set budget. This may be mitigated through recruiting cheap labor for manual jobs. The third risk is the probability of failure to achieve the expected results by the senior management because of financial and time constraints. It can be mitigated through constant internal project monitoring and review. The fourth risk is environmental pollution which may be hazardous. It can be mitigated through proper planning for the disposal and elimination of hazardous waste and other by products from the production process. The fifth risk is the probability of delayed payments which may delay funds for other investment opportunities. This can be mitigated through financial derivatives like options and futures co.
Michael Vaughn presented on useful tips for mitigating scope creep on projects. He recommends (1) clearly communicating the project plan and expectations upfront, (2) regularly reviewing the plan throughout the project, and (3) truly understanding how involved the client will be in the project. He also suggests educating the client on relevant trends and the end users' journey to set proper expectations.

2.CASE STUDY: GREENFIELDS THE UNIVERSITY OF GREENFIELDS
The University of Greenfields would like to expand their civil engineering department and have been seeking a suitable location to construct an integrated administrative and teaching complex.
The buildings will have lecture theatre and tutorial rooms, accommodation and administrative facilities and should ideally be within a 3 mile radius of the main university campus.
A major design requirement is that BREEAM environmental standards are met. BREEAM, (Building Research Establishments Ltd Environmental Assessment Method) which helps further education colleges to set environmental targets, is not only important to the University but to Local Government also and will have a major influence in obtaining planning permission.
The local council has proposed a disused factory site, the Car Build Industrial Estate. Although the site is now derelict and will require clearing before any construction can take place it is just 2 miles from the University main buildings providing ease of access between departments. The site is close to a recently extended main road connecting Greenfields town center with a large housing development, Newtown, which has a reliable and frequent public transport service.
As part of a national conservation initiative, supported by the University, a cycle path has been built along an old drained canal route which runs from the town center, along the perimeter of the Industrial Estate and onto Newtown.
The expansion of the University has attracted a lot of publicity and strong feeling both for and against the development. The business community sees the increase in student population as very positive whilst residents of Newtown are concerned that the increased traffic will cause excessive congestion. In addition, a local environmental group have raised the problem of site clearance saying that Car Build Industrial Es.
This document presents the application of various Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools to develop a device that prevents earphone wires from getting tangled. A survey was conducted to understand customer needs. Key needs identified were preventing tangling, saving time, and ease of use. Concepts were developed and evaluated using tools like affinity diagrams, Kano analysis, benchmarking, quality function deployment, and Pugh's concept selection matrix. The top concept was a winding sleeve that allows earphones to extend and retract while preventing tangling. This high-level 3 sentence summary provides the essential information about the document's purpose and outcomes.
This document outlines Phase 1 of Project Lincoln, which aims to design and construct a mobile solar station. The project will be run out of the Thimann Labs and is open to all members. Phase 1 involves dividing students into two teams to develop full design concepts and cost reports for portable solar stations. Each design must include components like solar arrays, charge controllers, batteries, inverters, and output systems. Cost reports must include supplier details, price breakdowns, estimated timelines and budgets. The final design must be able to provide power for 15-20 students over 8 hours of sunlight, fit within a 5x5x5 cube, and be weatherproofed to withstand various environments. Almost a decade before I designed and fabricated the limited edition kid's Delta Bear Bag, I was asked to design a time capsule for Delta. As Delta was emerging from bankruptcy, the capsule was to capture the dreams and hopes for the future of the company. I wanted to give every Delta employee and personal time capsule. It was cylinder. Inside they could store physical items. A flash memory card would store video messages, photos, scans of pink slips. When assembled on the rooftop of Delta's Atlanta HQ, LED lights atop each cylinder would create an illuminated Delta logo, visible from space.

Sustainability
Samsung has claimed so much in their sustainability report regarding their concern for environment, quality control and product safety in terms of producing products in sustainable way. However, it cannot be denied that Note 7 crisis has left the great impact on the environment. There was storm of questions about how a sophisticated electronics company with decades of experience can put a faulty product in the market. There was an issue with quality assurance and testing to make sure the device is safe and properly designed. Samsung boasted so much about the assurance and quality (refer to appendix A) but failed to apply in practical. Even Samsung has revealed in their sustainability report that they had quality issue related to the Galaxy Note 7. (Samsung Sustainability Report 2017)
According to the Greenpeace (International NGO), Samsung manufactured 4.3 million Note 7 devices added about 730,000 kg material which contained rare earth minerals and precious resources such as cobalt, Tungsten, Tantalum, Gold, Silver. It was said that 99% of rare earth minerals cannot be recovered for recycling stated by iFixit. It was just an estimated that recycling effort by Samsung will help to collect up to 142,828 kg of resources. Now the question is, what will happen to the remaining waste? Even environmental organisations questioned Samsung about its recycling plan following an eco-friendly manner and how will they execute their plan.
It was stated in the Samsung’s sustainability report 2017 that company has reduced its Sustainability management value due to environmental impact of wastage.
Actions taken by Samsung after Note 7 Crisis:
Their plan was to recall all the sold devices at the initial stage and after five months, Samsung revealed its commitments towards the environment, recycling and to save the galaxy. Samsung said it will considered to be used their devices as refurbished phones after the consultations with regulatory authorities, carriers and local demand. Moreover, components such as camera modules and semiconductors will be detached and used for test sample and production purposes. Final process will be to extract precious metal using environmentally friendly methods. Apart from all, Samsung has joined the EUs and R&D and new eco-friendly processing methods for testing.
Effect on company’s goodwill
According to the report published by Boston-based consulting group Reputation Institute, Samsung’s place has fallen drastically to 89th, a huge drop of 69 spots in the global Corporate Social Responsibility ranking (Lee Wan 2017). The report examines Corporate Social Responsibility and weighs factors such as social influence, treatment of workers and corporate structure in major companies from different companies.
It was estimated that Samsung’s shares prices were declined almost 7%, knocking about 17billion off the company’s market value. Apart from this, class action lawsuits have been launched in many countries but ag.
This document provides an introduction to reservoir modelling. It defines reservoir modelling as the construction of 3D computer models of oil and gas reservoirs to estimate reserves, plan field development, predict production, and evaluate reservoir management strategies. Building accurate reservoir models is challenging due to the variety of data types involved and complex steps required. The key is to keep models practical and focused on addressing specific questions about the reservoir. Modern software aims to integrate seismic, geological, and simulation data into a single workflow. While technology has advanced modelling capabilities, reservoirs remain complex, so models need to capture important heterogeneity at appropriate scales without unnecessary complexity. The overall goal is to represent reservoirs usefully rather than replicate every detail.
Research plan for sustainable furniture developmentApoorv Gupta
This document outlines a research plan to understand demand for the Eco Stool product. It includes proposed research activities like prototypes, identifying lead users and target markets, creating personas, assessing feasibility and competition, and testing marketing concepts. Qualitative and quantitative research methods are suggested like focus groups, online polls, questionnaires. The plan aims to portray acceptance of sustainable furniture over other eco-products to stakeholders. Feedback on the proposed tools is requested.
This document provides guidance on creating and using a research dossier to organize materials for a project analyzing crisis communication. It recommends using OneNote to digitally clip sources, code data using grounded theory, and organize information using chronological and scholarly frameworks. The scholarly framework involves analyzing sources according to the three phases of crisis response: denial, defense, and corrective action. Examples show how excerpts are clipped, cited, and analyzed within the dossier to identify themes in reader comments responding to news about a celebrity chef's use of a racial slur. Coding revealed comments quickly associated the chef's brand with southern racism.

The goal is to create a professional

Project Description
The Backpack project requires the design and development of backpacks with a refrigerated pouch including communications capabilities for US armed forces. The United States military continues to face challenges of carrying their meals including drinks while conducting ground and special operations in isolated locations. The current backpacks used by the US military lack refrigeration pouch and radio communications component, subsequently jeopardizing soldiers ability of communicating and facilitating recovery operations for troops injured in combat. Subsequentially, US Armed Force including Ground and Special Operation Forces have requested the design and advancement of a refrigerated backpac.
