Progressive Web Apps consist of a new palette of technologies such as the Web App Manifest, homescreen install support, Service Workers and the app shell. These bridge the gap between native and web apps offering new capabilities for web developers to create amazing desktop and mobile experiences.
Progressive Web Apps, also known as Installable Web Apps or Hybrid Web Apps, is the latest industry trend helping businesses create more engaged and loyal customers by presenting regular web pages or websites as traditional applications or native mobile applications to the users.
We have today on the web capabilities to create web apps that feel and act like native application.
We can have offline first, push notification and add to home screen. These three features bring us to a point where we can give users our content and features with one click and with all the benefits of the web.
What is this new monster you ask?
Well, go over these slides to learn more.
Progressive Web App (PWA) is a term used to denote web apps that use the latest web technologies. Progressive web apps are technically regular web pages (or websites) but can appear to the user like traditional applications or (native) mobile applications. This new application type attempts to combine features offered by most modern browsers with the benefits of mobile experience.
A Progressive Web App uses modern web capabilities to deliver an app-like user experience.
Progressive Web Apps bring features we expect from native apps to the mobile browser experience in a way that uses standards-based technologies and run in a secure container accessible to anyone on the web.

Pick Your Poison – Mobile Web, Native or Hybrid?Effective
Presented at Denver Startup Week - October 2012
As developers, one of the largest challenges is deciding what kind of mobile application to build: mobile web, hybrid, or native mobile. This is a thorny question because there isn’t a black-and-white answer. The solution can sit anywhere from pure mobile web to pure native mobile, or somewhere in between. In this session, Shane Church, technical lead at EffectiveUI, uncovers how the answer is tied to deep consideration of architecture decisions, the needs of the user, and the business goals for both the short and long term. He goes step-by-step through the questions and project considerations they should address when preparing to embark on a mobile development project. You'll learn that your responses to these questions will drive a clear path to the right decision that keeps end-users and organizational goals in line.

Slides of presentation I gave recently on Progressive Web Apps. In this I describe how to build a PWA and how to debug. I explain how to use Google's LightHouse and Microsoft's PWA Builder to create an app.
Slide used in the Centric WebCast - Progressive Web Apps.
In this I explain what a Progressive Web App is. I demonstrate how to analyze a website with Lighthouse and how to build one using PWA Builder for creating the manifest and service worker.
Developing an app includes elaborate planning and procedures. It begins with app concepts, then goes on to scheduling, design, development, testing, and deployment of the app to the planned mobile devices. However, you will have to choose the exact way in which you need to create and install your app you can develop either a mobile app or a web app.
Hire Ionic Developer to Build Cross-platform, Feature-rich, and most advanced...Katy Slemon
Here we provide you 2020 guidelines about to hire ionic developers to build cross-platform and hybrid app development with feature-rich and super fast speed.
Many companies still consider web and apps two totally separate silos with different POs, contents, dev teams, design principles etc. It doesn’t have to be like this. Hence, combining web and app development and operations in a smart way has become one of my favourite topics recently.
In May 2019 I got to share my views at the E-handelsskola organised by DIBS at Retail Experience Live exhibition in Sweden. I was asked to talk about progressive web apps but since I feel they are not a viable solution yet, I ended up telling why and what you should do instead.
This is an extended edition of the slides I used at the event.
This was my summary of what I would currently suggest by default:
- Maximise usage of web-based content inside your app
- Leverage app stores as a delivery channel
- Leverage native for special tech as needed (push, sensors, proper camera etc.)
- Be ready to pivot to PWA if that takes off

Why React Native as a Strategic Advantage for Startup Innovation.pdfayushiqss
Do you know that React Native is being increasingly adopted by startups as well as big companies in the mobile app development industry? Big names like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest have already integrated this robust open-source framework.
In fact, according to a report by Statista, the number of React Native developers has been steadily increasing over the years, reaching an estimated 1.9 million by the end of 2024. This means that the demand for this framework in the job market has been growing making it a valuable skill.
But what makes React Native so popular for mobile application development? It offers excellent cross-platform capabilities among other benefits. This way, with React Native, developers can write code once and run it on both iOS and Android devices thus saving time and resources leading to shorter development cycles hence faster time-to-market for your app.
Let’s take the example of a startup, which wanted to release their app on both iOS and Android at once. Through the use of React Native they managed to create an app and bring it into the market within a very short period. This helped them gain an advantage over their competitors because they had access to a large user base who were able to generate revenue quickly for them.
