2. Concept and Ideas
Many thoughts and discussions have been expressed on
Leadership in the 21st Century, but none reflect the idea
that Leadership is a talent and not a competence as such.
The reason is obvious;
Many are called and few are chosen! The term “Primus
inter paris” seems to be outdated, but nevertheless the
only valid criterion to be able to determine true
Leadership.
3. I put to you a number of essential qualities to
define a Leader in this day and age:
What are the real competences
5. Progressive Leadership entails:
• Ensuring that she/he is available for those who need her/him,
• Flexibility and ability to act diligently when necessary,
• Creating a safe working environment for team members in order
to stimulate their own talents and aspirations to contribute to the
goals as set out by the Organisation,
• Ability to get all the noses in the same direction under the most
critical circumstances,
• Sharing responsibilities in decision making allowing input from all
team members disregarding rank, grading and function groups,
• Consciousness for consequences of decisions to be taken and
those who will be most affected – fair play,
• Timely communicating changes and new decisions, making sure
that everyone can commit to the Vision and Mission as set out,
• Awareness of the fact that the backbone of the Organisation is the
work force.
6. Awareness of the fact that the backbone of the Organisation

My aim is to act according to
the points as set out above….
8. I am able to recognize inspirators in
my daily work environment:

necessary actions.
