Under the Chief Minister's Housing Scheme, about 40 thousand affordable houses have been built in Naya Raipur at a cost of Rs. 3,500 crore. The Chhattisgarh Housing Board is building new colonies with concrete roads, underground electricity, and street lighting. Chhattisgarh's Environment and Housing department proposed amending environmental laws to make them more robust and effective, including creating a National Environment Management Authority and State Environment Management Authorities. The units have effectively implemented environment management plans to improve work quality in Chhattisgarh. Heavy fines are suggested under environmental laws to deter future violations. Serious cases with potential for severe environmental impact or affecting large populations will be handled by higher courts.
