The group researched documentary styles, types, structures and conventions from their previous work. This research will help them choose a documentary style and include relevant conventions as they begin filming. They split the research tasks equally and on time to stay on schedule. They gained experience using Prezi and Slideshare to create an engaging blog. Their next steps are to generate ideas for their documentary topic and discuss the pros and cons of each to select one.

2. Summary…
• From post 3-8, we researched documentaries
and theorists, types of documentaries,
narrative structure, documentary conventions
and modes of documentary.
• Researching these will help us choose what
style and type of documentary we would like
to do and give us ideas for what conventions
we would like to include – this will be helpful
for us when we start filming.

3. Strengths
• We split each of these tasks up equally so we had
an equal amount to do and so that we could get it
done on time for when we move on to our next
stage of planning.
• This gave us the opportunity to start using
different software to create an exciting and fun
blog. We used prezi and slideshare, gaining more
knowledge on how these work.
• We handled our time limit effectively and posted
them on our blog so that we were ready to
continue into the next stage.

4. Weaknesses/areas to
improve…
• We could have used 1 more type of software
so that there was more of a range, however
each prezi was on a different template and
each powerpoint on slideshare had a different
theme, so they still looked appealing.

5. Target for next stage…
• Now that we have completed our research
into the styles of documentaries, we need to
start thinking about an idea for our
documentary to be based around.
• We need to find inspiration for various
different ideas so that we can discuss
strengths and weaknesses of each and finally
choose one.
