1) The document analyzes surveys of occupational therapy students in Japan to understand how their self-assessments and understanding of clinical practice changes over time.
2) Results show that students' descriptions of practicing occupational therapy and forming their professional identities changed between early and later clinical experiences to better match educational targets.
3) While students' self-knowledge categories did not change, the qualitative content of their reflections demonstrated deeper understanding over time, such as considering the impact of their actions on patients.

Use the research critiques to complete this assignment that has both qualitative and quantitative.
Qualitative Studies
Background of the study. Answer the following questions in narrative form regarding the qualitative studies in this section.
· Identify the clinical problem and research problem that led to the study. What was not known about the clinical problem that, if understood, could be used to improve health care delivery or patient outcomes? This gap in knowledge is the research problem.
· How did the author establish the significance of the study? In other words, why should the reader care about this study? Look for statements about human suffering, costs of treatment, or the number of people affected by the clinical problem.
· Identify the purpose of the study. An author may clearly state the purpose of the study or may describe the purpose as the study goals, objectives, or aims.
· List research questions that the study was designed to answer. If the author does not explicitly provide the questions, attempt to infer the questions from the answers.

Nursing Practice Problem and PICOT Statement
Nursing Practice Problem
State the practice problem that is relevant to nursing. This should be an extension of the PICOT question that was in the introduction of the literature Search on Week 1 of this class. The PICOT question should support the nursing practice problem with current research. Be clear, concise and relate the problem to nursing practice. State how current research supports this problem. Describe the relevant details and explain how the PICOT statement is linked or related to nursing practice. Current research must be used to show how the PICOT supports the nursing practice problem.
PICOT Statement
State the PICOT statement in a question. State the PICOT question using the format noted in the article on “EBP- Step-by-Step- Asking the Clinical Question: A Key Step in Evidence-Based Practice” by Stillwell, Fineout-Overhold & Melnyk (2010) found with the template for this assignment. [Underneath the reference, give a summary of the article then an analysis:
Summary of article: 1-2 paragraphs that describe the following information in your own words
in paragraph format (not bullet points).
• Why the article was written?
• What are the major points of the article?
• If the article was a study, describe:
o The methods used in the research: Include the participants, how the research question(s)
was tested or measured (e.g. survey, interview, formal testing…)
o The results of the study: What did the researchers find out?
o The conclusions: What did the researchers conclude from the study? What were the
limitations of the research?
NOTE: The article doesn’t need to be cited in the body of the annotated bibliography

Description of the Assignment
In this 5-6 page paper (not including the title or reference pages in the page count), the introduction contains a few statements about nursing theory in general, identification of
one nursing theory to be used in this paper, and the sections of the paper. The selected nursing theory can be from any of the three types of theories:
· grand theory (e.g., Roy adaptation model),
· middle-range theory (e.g., Benner’s model of skill acquisition),or
· practice theory (e.g., Im’s theory on the pain experience of cancer patients).
Note: the theories named here are examples only; students may choose any nursing theory.
1. The first section of the paper is a description of the importance of nursing theory, in general.
2. Key points and inter-relationships of those points of the selected theory are summarized. Biographical or historical information about the selected nursing theory or the nurse theorist is not included.
3. The selected nursing theory’s views or ideas about nursing leadership, nursing education, health policy, or nursing informatics (only one of these specializations) are discussed briefly, using two examples from real life to illustrate the views. Real-life examples come from a student’s own practice or from the scholarly literature.
4. The paper is concluded by presentation of insights gained (what was learned) about nursing theory through writing the paper.
Criteria for Content
· Introduction includes general comments on nursing theory (such as a definition of nursing theory and past exposure or experience with nursing theory), the name of the selected nursing theory, and the sections of the paper. A heading is not used.

The knowledge standard can keep a

I think that it is necessary to consider
an education method to keep a fixed
technical standard by a current clinical
practice system.

7. Method
I investigated 40occupational therapy
students in (2007) and 37 in (2008) who
were registered at college A of
occupational therapy schools in Tokyo.
I have carried out a questionnaire. It
included questions regarding experiences
learned from clinical practice and
description of what they got.
8. Data analysis
The analysis method classified description contents in reference to
KJ editor. In the following, I simply explain the procedure of the
classification that took KJ editor into account.
①I open a short sentence card and I collect the near things of the
meaning and make a small group.
② I read over each small group again and can thrust "category"
expressing a meaning of the whole the small group.
③ I consider the "category" to be one piece of card and I collect
the near cards of the meaning again and make a higher small
group.
④ I continue this process till the near thing of the meaning
disappears.
⑤ I illustrate the relations of each group after I finish arranging the
whole and express a theme in a sentence while watching the
illustration.
It is necessary to perform that while arguing by a plural number
to raise the validity of "category" and a figure concerned.
9. Results (1)

10. Results (2)
The label total number to constitute a
category was 179 pieces of " clerkship "
and " internship " 194 pieces.
As a result of analysis, free description
and students’ comment on meanings of
clinical practice was classified in a
category of " Practice of the occupational

Others".
11. Results (3)
" Practice of the occupational therapy " and " Form

Along education targets, the description contents of the
student’s changed, too.
Therefore it was noticed that there is a different in the
sub categories and the description contents.(cf.Table5)
"Self-knowledge "
there was no difference in the categories and the sub
categories by the difference of education targets.
However, there was the qualitative change of description
contents.(cf.Table6)

14. Discussion (1)
" The technology of the occupational therapy "
It was understood practice with the large frames
in clerkship, but there was little understanding of
what they understood from different angles in
internship.
"Self-knowledge "
It was limited at Know oneself level in
clerkship, but it was realized the influence that
one's behavior and action could give a patient
level understanding that changed into
management in internship.
15. Discussion (2)
" Self growth "
It was limited in vision and expanded in terms of
thought level in clerkship, but reached the action
that the conquest of a concrete problem did in
internship.
" Professional responsibility"
It began with general understanding called a
careerist / the member of society in clerkship and
they understood the responsibility of the
occupational therapist in internship.
16. Conclusions
We were able to confirm that learning to clinical
practice of OT student’s about the practice of the
occupational therapy of each clinical practice
affected by the contents which met education
target.
However, estrangement is watched in assessment
between a supervisor and the students.
In addition, as for the change of the students
who became clear, the problem that was not
reflected stayed for the results of the clinical
practice in this study.
