 A person can be called as a professional based on the
standards of education, training. specific knowledge and
skill possess in order to fulfill the requirements of a
particular task assigned to him/her.
 Professional values can be considered as the personal,
social, organizational & corporate Ideologies of behavior
expected from a professional.
What is Professional Value?
 Professional values in a generic term for principles that
are major and unique to practicing a profession.
 In simple words, they are guiding beliefs and principles
that influence our work behavior (profession it differs
across all professions).
Components of Professional Value
 Some professional organizations may define their values
approach in terms of a number of discrete components.
 Typically these includes:
1. Honesty
2. Transparency
3. Accountability
4. Respect
5. Loyalty
Fundamental Principles of Professional

There are five fundamental principles of
professional values are:-
 Integrity
 Objectivity
 Professional Competence and Due Care
 Confidentiality
 Professional Behavior
Integrity
Professional integrity is the practice of maintaining
appropriate ethical behavior. It is the practice of
showing strong adherence to moral and ethical
principles and values such as honesty, honor,
dependability and trustworthiness.
Objectivity
 Objectivity meaning in the workplace is using fair,
balanced criteria for making decisions concerning
employees or company problems.
 Decisions are based on hard facts and evidence,
not the personal judgment of one
person or a group.
Professional Competence and
Due Care
 The professional person has a continuing duty to
maintain professional knowledge and skill at the
level required for ensure that a client or
employer. receives competent professional
services based on current developments,
knowledge and techniques.
 A professional should act diligently and in
accordance with applicable technical and
professional standards.
Confidentiality
 Confidentiality is that practice which helps to keep secret
all information deemed desirable to keep secret.
 A professional should respect the confidentiality of
information received / work and business relationships, it
should not be disclosed to any 3rd parties/other person.
 Without having proper authority, professional right or
duty to disclose No information received from clients
should be used for taking personal advantage.
Professional Behavior
 Professional behavior in the workplace is a
combination of attitude, appearance and
manners. It includes the way you speak,
look, act and make decisions.
 The main principles of professional work
behavior include: Treating your managers,
colleagues and clients with respect.
Importance of Professional Values
 It helps to portray a professional image through
reliability, consistency and honesty.
 Dress and act appropriately.
 Deliver work outcomes to agreed quality
standards and timescales.
 Be accountable for their actions.
