This document discusses a proposed national partnership in South Africa between government, businesses, labor organizations, and communities to improve basic education outcomes. It notes that current business efforts in education are fragmented and lack coordination, monitoring of impact, and sustainability. The proposed partnership would establish agreed indicators to monitor learning outcomes, quality of teaching, and other metrics. It would also create an interlocking set of classroom to district-level support interventions, tools to track progress, and open educational resources to deliver curriculum and training. The partnership aims to pilot its approach across 5 districts in 3 provinces and identify funding needs over the next few years to scale up solutions and drive real change in South Africa's education system.
