Table manners
• Western cultures, including American culture, are well-known
for table manners. It is true that not all Americans know
about proper table manners, but it is also not wrong for us to
learn about table manners. People will appreciate you if you
behave properly during dinner with others.
• During a meal, always put your napkin on your lap. Start
eating when everyone at the same table has been served.
When eating, don’t put yor elbows on the table. When eating
your soup, don’t make a noise by slurping it and lean forward
to the plate. After eating, do not use toothpicks at the table.
• In American culture, dinner is a time when family gathers.
During the meal, they will have a conversation with people at
the table. Involve yourself in the conversation, but not with a
full mouth. Also, don’t move your spoon, fork and or knife,
while talking.

Tempe cheeseburgers
• Ingredients
o1 pound of tempe, cut into 4 equal squares
o4 ounces cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
o6 hamburger buns, toasted if desired
oLettuce leaves
oTomato slices
oPickle slices
oMayonnaise
oMustard
oKetchup as desired
Spices
o½ cup of soy sauce
o¼ cup of extra virgin olive oil
o1 large shallot
o3 garlic cloves, minced
o1 tbsp honey
o1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves or 1 tsp dried thyme
steps
1) Heat the oven to 375F
2) Whisk together the soy sauce, oil, shallot, garlic, honey,
and thyme in a medium bowl
3) Put the tempe in a pan and pour the marinade over
them. Bake for 30 minutes
4) Then, flip the tempe. Continue to bake until they absorb
all the marinade for about 20 to 30 more minutes
5) Top tempe with the cheddar and continue to bake until
the cheese melts
6) Place the tempe on a hamburger bun with lettuce,
tomato, pickles, mayonnaise, mustard and/or ketchup
7) Cover it with another bun
