You and your friends race to the gym after school, and when you go through the 1-person-at-a-
time entrance, the system records who came that day and in what order. You get access to that
data, GYM VISITS), as a list of visits. Each visit is a word with the first name initials (e.g., if my
name is "Dan", the system would write "D") of the people who got there in the order they got there.
For example, on the fourth day, D (Dan) got there first, E (Eduardo) got there second, and nobody
else went to the gym. Fortunately, you all have unique first name initials! Here is an example from
five days' visits; note that not everyone goes to the gym every day: Select the simplest HOF
expression "structure" for each of the following calculations that will process GYM VISITS, i.e., the
one that uses the fewest total HOFs. We still might need to fill in more later to compute what we'd
like to compute (but note that we're not allowed to use any recursion or repeat/repeat
until/for/foreach loops -- the only machinery is the maps and keeps listed). Note that map and
keep helpers are just separate reporters with one instance of that particular HOF (map or keep)

Which (list all that apply) of the common justifications of white-collar crime can you see
Kenneth Lay and Jeffery Skilling using in their defense? Explain.
Common Justifications for White Collar Crimes 1. Denial of responsibility. (Everyone can, with
varying degrees of plausibility, point the finger at someone else.) 2. Denial of injury. (White-collar
criminals often never meet or interact with those who are harmed by their actions.) 3. Denial of the
victim. (The offender is playing tit-for-tat and claims to be responding to a prior offense inflicted by
the supposed victim.) 4. Condemnation of the condemners. (Executives dispute the legitimacy of
the laws under which they are charged, or impugn the motives of the prosecutors who enforce
them.) 5. Appeal to a higher authority. ( "I did it for my family" remains a popular excuse.) 6.
Everyone else is doing it. (Because of the highly competitive marketplace, certain pressures exist
to perform that may drive people to break the law.) 7. Entitlement. (Criminals simply deny the
authority of the laws they have broken.) Source: Adapted from Daniel J. Curran and Claire M.

The Tech section in Forbes magazine reported that the crimi.pdfabyssiniaimpex1
The Tech section in Forbes magazine reported that the "criminals won" in the Sony pictures
breach. An anonymous threat posted on an obscure site warned that people who watch the to-
bereleased movie The Interview would be "doomed" to a "bitter fate" and recalled the tragic events
of September 11. The threat said that the movie inappropriately made light of North Korean
officials. As a result of the threat, five large theater chains in the United States and Canada
canceled plans to include the film on their screens. Ultimately, Sony had no choice but to cancel
the theater release of the film for reasons that are both economic and legal. The former was due to
a lack of revenue given the small number of remaining theaters that might go ahead and run the
film. The latter was driven by what would happen if an attack was carried out. A Steve Carell
project that featured North Korea was also canceled. The Guardian reported that a group named
the Guardians of Peace retaliated against Sony. They hacked into Sony's systems and stole over
100 terabytes of files, including unreleased movies, social security numbers for thousands of Sony
employees, and internal e-mails, some of which revealed embarrassing conversations between
Sony employees. The hackers began distributing the files in various locations online, making them
free for the taking. The officials of that government denied any involvement in the hack but said
that it might have been a "righteous deed" of those who support the government. North Korean
officials demanded some changes to the movie, including taming down a death scene of its leader.
Sony initially refused but then decided to go ahead and edit the scene. The movie eventually
opened without incident on a limited basis in some cinemas on Christmas Day and then was made
available via online rental. According to the Mirror in the United Kingdom, neither the Department
of Homeland Security nor the FBI could find evidence that the violence was a credible threat, but

Homeland Security nor the FBI could find evidence that the violence was a credible threat, but the
FBI believed North Korea was behind the hacking. In turn, North Korea claimed that the U.S.
government was responsible for creation of the movie. Discussion Questions 1. Setting aside the
political issues between North Korea and the United States, is there a reasonable way to respond
to an anonymous threat found on the Internet somewhere? What elements would you require
before canceling the film if you were CEO of Sony? If you were CEO of a chain of theaters? 2.
What cybersecurity controls would you recommend Sony use to provide better security for
unreleased digital films and e-mails? Be sure to include technology as well as organizational
controls. 3. If you were a hacker, what approach would you have used to break into Sony's
system? What do you think the most important SETA elements .

1 Was it a wise move by Netflix to move from a distribution.pdfabyssiniaimpex1
1. Was it a wise move by Netflix to move from a distribution company to a production company?
2. Can they afford to sustaining and producing original content or will they ultimately have to
buy/merge with a movie/television studio to create a greater portfolio of content?
Article: In 2018, Netflix had over 125 million subscribers in some 190 countries worldwide. It had
earned almost $12 billion in revenues in 2017, and rapid growth in both domestic and international
subscribers had fueled intense investor enthusiasm, causing its market capitalization to reach just
under $150 billion and making it one of the fastest-growing stocks on the market. A photo shows a
puppy dressed in a coat posing. The text behind reads, A Netflix film, Benji. John Sciulli/Getty
Images Entertainment/Getty Images When Netflix was founded in 1997, its business model was to
rent and sell movies on DVDs by mail. Customers could browse and select movies online, and
those movies would be mailed out to the customer, who would then mail the movies back after
watching. Though it initially started with a per-movie rental fee like its largest bricks-and-mortar
rival, Blockbuster, it soon moved to a subscription fee. Customers could choose among plans with
different prices based on how many movies they wanted to rent simultaneously, and they could
keep movies out at long as they wanted without late fees. The subscription plan was a hit, and by
2005 the company was shipping out over a million DVDs a day. One of the most compelling
features of the Netflix site was its recommender system. As people rented movies, Netflix
prompted them to review the movies they had already seen. It thus steadily accrued a massive
database about correlations among movie preferences that it could use to make movie
suggestions to users. For example, if a user gave a five-star rating to Journey to the Center of the
Earth, the system would suggest they might also like The Mummy, Indiana Jones and Kingdom of
the Crystal Skull, and Inkheart. The service turned out to be enormously popular and soon
sounded a death knell for bricks-and-mortar video stores. By having centralized inventory and
shipping movies to people, Netflix could offer a much wider selection than physical stores could
offer, and its scale meant it could both negotiate better prices on content, and invest in value-
added services for customers like the review and recommender systems mentioned previously,
online movie trailers, and more. Importantly, Netflix was also a key channel for films by small,
independent filmmakers to reach audiences, enabling the company to forge relationships that
would prove to be increasingly valuable as time passed. In 2007, Netflix began offering movie
streaming, which rapidly grew to be the preferred mode of movie consumption. Then, in 2011, the
company began acquiring original content for exclusive distribution on Netflix, starting with the
series House of Cards and Lilyhammer. By 2013, it had moved into co-.

string that follows the valid New York State format as specified. You can only change the body of
the function using only basic types and features of Python that we have been looking at so far
(e.g. basic types, functions, loops, etc.) You may rely on the random module of Python to generate
random numbers. For your convenience, there's a small loop at the end that will generate 5
random license plates when you complete your function..

How to Turn a Group of Strangers Into a Team
In the age of virtual meetings, a team is a group of people who may or may not be physically
located across the meeting table from each other. They could be spread across the country or
around the world. Sometimes the team consists of representatives of different departments or
have different roles in the project. The one thing they may have in common? Many times they are
strangers who need to work together to achieve a goal.
Professor Amy Edmondson studied this teeming concept and how leaders can use research into a
coal mining accident in Chile to improve how you build a great team among a group of strangers.

Consider the need for stakeholder engagement when implementi.pdfabyssiniaimpex1
Consider the need for stakeholder engagement when implementing sustainability. Failure to
include your stakeholders can cause the organization a missed opportunity to find out what
stakeholders care about and ensure that your sustainability efforts meet both the company's
needs and stakeholder needs. And without stakeholder engagement, the organization may spend
resources in the wrong places. For this week's assignment develop a plan to engage your
customers in your sustainability approach for your organization. When developing your
stakeholder engagement plan be sure to consider the questions below: What do they care about in
regard to your business (what is most material)? How do they define sustainability? (This might be
different from the way you think about it.).

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
