Due to the premature failure of corrosion protection systems on cable supported structures, D.S. Brown began development of its patented Cableguard™ Elastomeric Cable Wrap System in the early 1990’s. This alternative corrosion protection system, developed exclusively for bridge cables, is applicable during construction or rehabilitation of cable-stayed and suspension bridges.
Traditionally, cables have been sealed using cable glands or compounds; however, Roxtec - a next-generation, certified, well-proven, modular-based sealing system offers substantial cost savings and flexibility compared to the old cable glands.
This kit is designed to replace the traditional method of Heatshrink Wrap-Around Sleeves, offering a single product capable of repairing any cable up to and including 170mm overall diameter. A totally enclosed mixing and pouring system enables a safer installation, and negates the need for naked flames or heat sources. The use of the resin outer encapsulation provides a secure mechanical protection, and is resistant to hydrocarbons and salt-water. The outer tape wrap and nozzle assembly can be cleanly removed, leaving a smooth profile suitable for cable-tray and bunched applications.
